My business is residential. Of late my main purchase, pole wise, has been an 18 foot "Extender" pole from Varitech. I had thought it was a great product, very light, ok for ground & first floor & able to reach a lot of second floor & over comservatories. I have about seven in use, but in the last week, two have split.

I'm back to square one as a consequence, still looking for the ideal domestic pole, light weight, reasonable price & strong. Where should I be looking?

the problem of extender poles splitting is caused by overtight clamps - loosen the clamps a little.

give Cleantech a call and order three sections of their Unger pole. 

Try it; honest.

When I first started, I thought this pole was cheap and difficult to use; so I used my 18 foot glass fibre Ionics pole.  It didn't take long for it to wear out and I was forced to use my Unger.

It just takes a few days of getting used to the different way they clamp; there's no need to over-tighten them; they're light too; much lighter than glass fibre and will last years, since the only parts that wear cost 'buttons' to replace.

You only need to use the sections required for the height of the building.  For example, today I've done quite a few 2nd floor (three storey) stuff.  I start using four sections of the pole for the 2nd floor, then when that's done, I remove the bottom section of the pole.  Wahay, it's lighter.

Then I clean the 1st floor windows and once they're done, I remove the next section of the pole, and so on. 

It is a good bit of kit.

I have to agree with simon here , got mine from Varitech too , but as its so light it means its gonna be weak , had mine 2 months and its wearing already , i reckon i will need a new one every 6 months or so .
As a result i will be going for the 18 foot universal next time , heavier i know but i have the 24 foot one at the mo and its been going for 18 months and there is plenty of life left in it .

I was thinking of trying the new unger or the one thats almost the same not sure of the make you can buy just the sections you neen and the metal screw together sections sould last longer than the clamps any thoughs not been out long enough to tell yet  does any one use it and if so could you post fedback thanks
