Stair carpet "Lifting"
« on: October 17, 2006, 08:41:20 pm »
Cleaned a customers stair carpet yesterday and shes just been on the phone telling me that its come away from the skirting. Just been round to have a look.
It hasnt shrank as such, more "lifted"
NO GRIPPER RODS down the edge which doesnt help.

Has only lifted a couple of mm. When you put pressure on it, it lies flush against skirting.
Told her that having no rods hasnt helped, but it will lie flat when thoroughly dry.
Is this the case ?
Your comments appreciated.
Cheers,
Terry

Hi Terry,

Yes in most cases it will relax and go back.

I have had the same as well on a lounge carpet last week. The carpet looked fine when looking at it but during the clean I started to see it rippling up. I finised the job and at the end it looked like the north sea!
Told customer it would be fine in the morning, with my fingers crossed behind my back  8)

Got my testimonial form bacjk a few days ago, and was told that it did take two days to go, but it did return to normal.  ;)
Bottom line is, I think all will be well. :D

Rippling happens a lot now with felt backed cheap cpts,
and in my exp it does go back to its original shape once it dries out,but looks horrible when it happens
