Hi

I have now canvassed pretty much the whole of the town where i live and have a reasonable amount of customers, it is a little spread on some days with one house here and there but on the whole its pretty good, and still picking up work all the time making it better ££££ wise when you clean in the same street even better if its next door.
Now i dont realy want to travel too far to work but if it means earning more i suppose i should, just wonderd how far some of you lot travel for a day or fews work, and if you find its just as cost effective to travel £££ wise and time wise.

  I do a lot of rural work, reason being it is more profitable as I use the 40p
  per mile rule instead of claiming for petrol etc..

  The furtherest I travel is 30 miles and what you find is you find more work
   when you travel to the odd village or farm.

  If I had all my work locally I would end up paying tax, whereas covering
  a fair distance I can claim £6k in expenses. My outgoings are only £3k
  so the Tax man is giving me £3k profit.

  Only downside is it can take upto 1/2 hour to get to your job, but I prefer
  it in clean country air and not trying to find a parking space in the city.

For domestic work the furthest I travel is about 30 mins away from home. For large well paying commercials though I would travel further.

I travel no further 3 miles all my work follows on from one road to the next.
all my work is within a two mile radius it takes 4.5 weeks to get around.

would travel around 50 miles away if the price is right, domestic or commercial, at the mo the furthest is 30 min drive domestic and 50 min drive for furthest commercial

My furthest job is about 15 miles from home but I have travelled much further if the job is large enough or the quality of the work is good enough.  I would so so again .

A w/c I know has moved to Manchester, its 60 miles away but he still travells back to do his work a couple of days a week.

Hes now canvassing in Manchester, When he moves back in 6 months he intendes to travell to Manchester to do his work, Hes getting good prices though.

The bulk of my round is 26 miles away but it's all very compact when I get there.
I too claim the 40p per mile.

On a day to day basis i now travel around 12 miles to get to my work. Just moved out to the sticks.

I have travelled as far as 180 miles for domestic work though. I suppose it all boils down to whether it's worth your while or not.

i also do alot of rural work,upto 25 miles radius and this means lots of miles a week.but the fresh air and the countryside make it worthwhile. Not sure what i my accountant gets back gor me as i just pay what i am due to the tax man and accountant, but know doug and dai say they claim so much per mile it is worth looking into, do you have to record your milage each day?
