hi guys.
i am just wondering if any body who has a C.F.R. carpet cleaning machine has problem with their 500 P.S.I. pump.

Yes we had problems with 500 psi pumps on our portys.

We now have gone down to 200 psi pumps as they appear to be more reliable.

It's ok having larger pumps but they don't last as long. We have several machines but for one man relying on one machine can be a nightmare if his breaks down on a job without a back up.

yes i see what you mean about the back up machine which we have too. but was your machine C.F.R.?
and you changed it from 500 P.S.I. to 200 P.S.I.?

No we have 2 T/Ms and 6 portys. We found 500psi pumps unreliable and changed down.

They must be serviced regularly including the changing of wear parts especially at the manufacturers recommended intervals. With the CFR system you must keep the internal plumbing clean otherwise sediment and lime scale can eventually build up. The clear plastic solution hoses underneath the solution/recovery tank should be clean and remain see-through.

After cleaning the system down at the end of the days cleaning I would flush the system through with clear water, adding a 1:20 dilution of acidic rinse at least once a week.

I have been cleaning with Solutions new ‘M-Power’ Microsplitting cleaning solution, both as a pre-spray and in tank additive and have found that the filters do not prematurely block, even on the heaviest of soils, and the tank also rinses clean easily when emptying. The 20-30 minutes clean down that I normally have to carry out at the end of the day, has been reduced to 5-10 minutes.

Also, check the nuts and bolts weekly as vibration can cause them to loosen.

You can bu seal kits for the pump heads but we find it cheaper to replace the complete head rather than buy 3 repair kits at £150 New heads are approx £250
Plus 20 min labour which can be done by yourself
