Please tell me why people get upset when window cleaners debate about the best way to clean a window?..

i have asked about the best type of squeegee,
and been answered

the best pole , scrim... no problem.. answers in abundance.
no-one gets upset..

but if a guy says what is the best way to do 3 storyeys.... and gets wfp as an answer..
suddenly you are classed as a trouble maker with your posts deleted!!!...

what is wrong with sound practical advice?

thats the only thing i find wrong with this forum....

nobody can mention one system against the other.

why not?

there is no difference between  telling someone to use wfp or trad ...

or telling someone to use a normal ladder or a pointer.

its a touch silly if you ask me...

everyone to their own i say.... lots of good advice on  here...

but i cant see why it upsets anyone.

To be honest I only bite when provoked.

It may not seem it to the biased ones, but I don't start criticising anything unless my methods are criticised (which is getting more common).

I'll happily stay on a trad topic until some wfp user says something stupid like he does a "better" job.....

It's not something I can let pass, and they have to be corrected.  :

Squeaky, Why get touchy when someone says that 'HE does a better job...when using wfp' He is not saying everyone does a better job, only himself! Do you get touchy if you go to a resturant and someone says the steak is great and you didnt like it?

 i didnt say that, read my post again please, i was saying advice on wfp or trad  should not turn into a slanging match.... one versus the other... and used 3 storey as an example.

I cleaned trad only, for 19 years.
If someone challenged my method or result I got a bit touchy at times, I think its a kind of pride in your work thing.  I've now been wfp for a year, I still use trad most days, but wfp is now my main tool.
I was close to giving up.  Wfp renewed my interest in w/c.  And my wallet is back in use!

As a new to the trade w/c i can only agree that what is good for one should be good enough for anyone, wfp or trad, each to their own and long may that be the case.
Why be upset about what method others use, i say we should be supportive and not quite so insular, we are all in the same business lets give more help and less lip to each other!

You have to remmber Gaza that everyone on here will be selfemployed(More or less). To be selfemployed you have to have a bit of fire in your belly and some go about you, or you will not make a success of it.

That fact alone means you will get w/c replying to certain topics on here because they have a strong view on it. Wfp is the hottest topic going at the momment because w/c are looking at it with a view to changeing their work method, Some like myself have changed to wfp and others like Squeaks are determined to stay trad.

I only give a viewpoint on a subject if I know something, So I can pass that knoweldge on or I post because someone as said something that in my view is incorrect.

Now, Why Use the word stupid in that sentance?

Squeaks is trad only and does not have an informed knoweledge of wfp. So why use the word stupid?

I have been cleaning windows just short of 27 yrs. I know the benefits of trad w/c and wfp. I can honestly say That on my work wfp gives a better finish then trad for 99% of my round. Its not perfect on everything thats why  I still use trad w/c on certain houses or certain windows.

My mentor who taught me how to w/c, and hes still w/c though he,s now in his 60s is still trad. Why? because he likes trad w/c plus he enjoys haveing a physical work out going up and down ladders. He wants to keep his body as supple as he can as he gets older so enjoys the movement of trad cleaning. Wfp is never an issue between us, I understand why he wants to stay trad and he understands why I have gone the wfp route.

There are never any arguments between us about it, because we respect each others choice of method. His two sons have switched to wfp and encourged their dad to switch purely from the safety aspect of things.

At the end of the day we w/c for many reasons, but the main reason is to make money. Will you make more money with wfp then Trad w/c? I can only answer that from what has happened to me and on my domestic round. Yes its made a massive diffrence. I will not mention how much more I have earned, but I will explain the diffrence it has made by telling you I have earned in 26 wks of this tax year what took me 41 weeks last year cleaning trad. Si I could take the winter off 15 weeks in total and still earn the same as trad w/c.

Thats what wfp has done for me. Could it make a massive diffrence to another Trad w/c? Yes of course it could.


So If someone posts in my opinion a misinformed posting that does not reflect the true facts of a matter. I will respond.

From a moderators perspective I only delete replies that are strongly out of context, I've only deleted posts for instance in threads where someone has asked...say...a trad question and then someone responds with 'get WFP'
And vice versa, a thread may be specifically WFP and someone trys to turn it into the eternal debate of trad v WFP.

If the thread is phrased correctly and is aimed at trad v WFP then get stuck in

But it gets distinctly tiresome when threads get subverted into the 'which is best?' debate.
No one likes having a reply deleted, but when you drift off topic you run that risk.
