So far my first Poll is yielding some interesting results, however I'm a little disappointed at the turnout. We are a group of people who at one time had the drive and ambition to start our own businesses and this generally should mark us out as being different to the general population.

Having taken the step towards financial independence, being businessmen you would expect us to take a keen interest in anything that could improve our lot. The annual trade show gives us all that opportunity to expose ourselves to the latest trends and learning in our industry. Reuben’s Poll so far indicates that 50% of respondents will not be attending the trade show; perhaps this is because there is nothing of interest at the show, or maybe its just apathy.

I’m interested to know if the Annual Trade Show offered a wider range of activities would more of you make the effort to attend. In other words; What do you want from your annual trade event?

One thing that I think would encourage more people would be discounts for equipment bought on the day.  Especially as the modern window cleaner will probably enter Water fed pole work at some stage and the outlay if set up properly can be quite substantial at a time when money may be scarce.

I know that the IWCA have some discounts at their shows and you attend as a supplier yourself.  Can you say why that doesn't happen here? Or is it just because nobody has ever asked?

I'm sure that most of the exhibitors will have show offers, if you are looking for a discount on a specific product then I'm sure that all you have to do is ask. Remember that business is a two way street, if you want something you can be sure the supplier will want something in return, so bring your cheque book with you because payment at point of sale will usually swing it.

Unlike the N/Fed the IWCA do not sell tools and equipment, but I'm sure that the Fed will have show offers too.

So far however it looks as though greatest demand is for items that are not on offer.

Thank you to all those that took the time to vote in this poll. I think the the results speak for themselves, I have no doubt that members of the Fed's committe have followed the voting. I say "give them what they want" certainly not all of the voters are Fed members and perhaps the vote demonstrates why!

Please view these Polls in the spirit they were intended, as a means of attracting more members and more trade show attendees. These Polls have provided an insight into what the industry wants, they where quick, free and have delivered results, I thank-you.
