Leather Flooring
« on: September 01, 2006, 11:38:27 am »
We were called out to see a leather floor a couple of weeks ago.  There are 2 sections 21m x 5m and 8m x 4m.  It has been down since 1983 and had not been looked after very well.  We restored one panel to see how it looked and test the wearability and had really good results. We are now planning to restore both floors and will post some pictures when we do the job.

It is very interesting to see this and think that eventually there will be a lot more of it on the market.

Will keep you posted.

My uncle had a leather floor in his home bar in the early 80’s. He also had a mullet, a mobile phone the size of suitcase, a V8 Capri and a Del Boy pineapple on the bar.

If leather floors make a come back I’ll grow a mullet.

Maybe Casio digital watches with calculators will make come back too.

I did not say they would be everywhere but there is a lot being used by designers these days and a lot of boats are having them fitted too.  They are fantastic if looked after properly and are very hard wearing.

I saw a leather rug in J Lewis the other week. It was small strips made up like the rag rugs great granny made. It was quite coarse and about 1 1/2 " long 'pile'
How you vac it or clean it beats me.
Concrete looks quite nice when its painted too!

Polished concrete looks good, in a sort of industrial way. Have seen kitchen worktops made out of the stuff.

If I get asked to clean a leather rug I'd have to tell them I belong to an animal rights group. Ands its angain'st my beliefs.
