Is pricing by square foot the best way to price up domestic work?

If so, is 50p per square foot expensive or about average?

I'd say it's on the high side. Some people charge more than this but a lot charge less.

However, that doesn't mean 50p/foot is wrong! If you get sufficient business at that price then great, if not reduce them slightly.

Why not quote 49p/foot? From a customer point of view it sounds better than 50p and won't lose you much money.

I'm not to far away from you and would suggest that you are a little high for regular cleaning, if you are putting protection on then it maybe about right.

I would bet most guys, even those that have been around a while are currently charging nearer 30p than 50p a sq ft. At 30p an average lounge in a three bed semi would work out at about £60.. at 50p it would be £99.. nice if you can get it.

From a customer point of view, 50p is half a quid. 49p is forty something pence.

The super markets play the same trick..charge £4.99 instead of £5.00 'cos psychologically it appears far cheaper.

How often do you tell your custys how much you charge by the sq foot, my advice is dont bother, there probably more interested in total price, but I do agree price by the sq foot instead of sq meter ive only recently changed over and 50 sqm for £150 doesnt sound as good as 538 sqf for £150

Sometimes they phone up and insist on a price in which case they get a price per square metre.

I have found that people exaggerate and describe a 15'x15' room as 10'x10' in order to get a cheaper estimate.
