Getting fed up of constantly changing my brass jets on a standard 2 jet wand - due to wear. On average changing them every 2 months.

Well I decided to investigate and I took delivery today of plastic jets with CERAMIC tips (the actual jet is ceramic and the housing is plastic).

They not only work with no problems but also deliver much better. PLUS they will last substantially longer than brass ones. PLUS they are a lot cheaper (£1.90 each plus vat) I tested them at normal pressure but with only approx 50 deg C. I can onlypresume that hotter will be fine - does anyone know?

Do the different colours signify anything different or are they just for show?

The colour gives the size, so a 2 jet wand would have 2 blues.

Blue 03
Red 04

Once a year to 18 months max.

You must be rinsing at 2000000 psi for them to be wearing out in that time.

I have brass jets and use 500psi with the Prowler to clean. Still as good as new after 19 months. Are you putting rust remover through them?

The problem with brass is that it is very soft. It wears quite quickly but you cannot notice it because you use it every day. The performance drops off, and you dont get the same dispersion rate. Ken Wainwright at NCCA can offer more technical expertise on this point, and if I'm not mistaken he uses stainless steel jets purely because of this!

But hey, I know whats going on, and am now very happy with these new jets. Im not saying to change your set up, stick with what you know if thats what makes you happy! I'm just suggesting that I have found an alternative that makes common sense to me!!

A few years ago I use to use a powder made by Stapro and it use to erode all the brass fittings on my machine including the brass jets.
So I'd say its not uncomon to find there are still chemicals around today that will do this to your equipment.
