First day - Monday 14th
« on: August 13, 2006, 03:41:14 pm »
Hi all.....Well the time is here....

As of tommorow morning I am officially a window cleaner.....have been preparing for the last two months and have my first cleans and 4 estimates to do....

Thanks to all have helped by answering my questions and generally showing me that kindness and the will to help are still very much human traits.

I am starting with the WFP and will still use trad where required.

Once again thanks to all....Now I am scared that i'll not get it right.

Now be prepared for the whinging and wining from me..... ;D

Any last suggestions from anyone?

Hi

Good luck, ive been going 5 weeks now and its great!!!!

You never know you may have to make your first executive decision by giving your self the day off if the weather here is anything to go by today

just make sure you dont under quote your 4 customers, at the start i thiink i should have asked more for some of my first customers but as i was new and didnt have much work i sort of under quoted, not by much but it will all add up if your not careful.

Andy

Oooooo that is shiny!!

well done dave .
i will be following you this week, go get em!.... tell you what i wish i had bought a bucket on a belt now , im practicing on my own windows, its supposed to be a waterproof pouch but im wet through..lol.. one more thing when i dip my wash thing (lol) in the bucket it drips everywhere, water everywhere.... thought it would be less hassle, should have a squeeze handle on it, is the trick just to touch the top of the water in the bucket. ?

Dont know about other guys on here, but i never put water in the bucket on a belt, just 'ring' out your T-bar, and water will collect in the bottom any way, just 'wet' up when needed. no need for water sloshing about every where!  ;)

Sounds like a great 1st day pylofm, good luck mate

you ve gotta have a bucket on a belt, gazza.Fill a window cleaning bucket up half way,dip your applicator in the water, squeeze off excess water, then place in the bucket on a belt, and like jake has said, water collects in the bottom.

well done dave, bet you buzzing... and tired , how many did you clean...  the guy in the shop said best to buy pouch lads... wet through ...will get bucket on belt now, mind you, having said that if i pop my squeegie in the bucket on a belt wont it only wet the end?...

gazza.  You completely wet the applicator(mop)first, then place it in the bucket on a belt,so in effect the mop is wet through. Some water will collect in the bottom of the b.o.a.b,so you can jiggle it about a bit to wet the end up a bit.Of course, you still need to wet it up properly now and then from a proper window cleaning bucket.I dont know about anyone else, but i have never used a pouch. All the window cleaners i have met,use the bucket on a belt.

Hiya Gazza, get out there and just enjoy it..have been out this morning and just completed my 2 first cleans with the WFP am secretly scared that they wont be fantastic but this is all part of the learning curve I suppose....The girlfreind has been out canvassing for the past 1.5 hours, she got 1 'maybe'....but she has vowed to keep on...

Yep bucket on a belt - fantastic peice of kit, basic and simple...wish I had thought of it...

Good luck with the cleans and good luck to all the newbies here who are starting up.

Dave. ;D
