Called to old customer today to clean leather suite and she has new carpet down(2 years) which has a 10 year guarantee against staining & wear.Anyone know anything about this type of carpet, method to clean or re-stainguarding or would it invalidate the warranty.Its an american manufacturer which also offers 7 year guarantees against staining & wear.

Hiya Steve. A lot of modern carpets have this warranty. A lot of modern carpets also advertise the fact that they are bleach resistant and can also be cleaned with bleach! (particularly twist piles) But if you look on the back of the swatch they say carpet needs to be fitted to BS 5325 and periodically cleaned using HWE. Personally ive never had problems with them although i dont stain shield often. If you want me to look into it i can(All family in carpets, folks have shop etc) but i would need the manufacturers name and range. To be honest i cant see it being a problem-clean as normal as the wear warranty only covers carpets if they wear into a hole. I fit a fair few of these carpets and they are the same as the rest with a fancy tag to up the price!! Hope this helps?

My mate works at the warehouse of the shop she bought it from and is looking into it for me.I explained that there should be no problem me cleaning it but she is worried about her guarantee.The manufacturer is faxing details over to her she has just been on the phone.

Its only water at the end of the day! Besides before ten years is up she should be ripping it up for a new carpet and have the room decorated again     Are they tight up your way?

No they tight.She has spilt tea,coffee even blood on the carpet and it just wiped away with a damp cloth

Poly prop is naturally stain retardent and can be cleaned with bleach due to the fact that it is solution dyed! 5th generation nylon carpets are stain gaurded with flourochemical and treated with a acid dye blocker. Expect that there are clauses to the gaurantee in that stains must be removed using certain process etc!
