Re: What size van should I get

I have a 2011 plate renault traffic,  had it from new and have always loved the van, on a run I still get 35 plus to the gallon, I have a 650l tank and only do window cleaning now. Smaller vans may be great on economy but space really is a premium, transit/traffic size is ideal, they drive like a car and parking and so on is pretty much straightforward,  go larger and that most definitely becomes an issue as does fuel economy.
Alas although my van is low milage for it's age, she is also an old girl now and every year she fails the MOT on something, usually ball joints or track rod ends (very common on traffic/primastar and vivaro) I'd love to get a new (er) transit custom but I'm also at the tail end of my working life! 😪 at some point I'll have to replace the old girl ... it's a hassle on the horizon I could do without!

I'm in the same position as you working part time in a small mercedes vito, love it, very practical, economical and most importantly reliable. Gets through most MOT's and needs the odd job here and there but I get my army deferred pension next year and plan to wind down slowly into retirement. Don't wish to pay out the price of a new van and will make do with what I got, I'm happy driving around in  my old van that I'm so familiar with.

a complete waster came to look at the van said they were having it then just messed me around, I should have taken a deposit but didn't my fault,

I still really couldn't give a f what you or anyone else thinks of me, water straight off a ducks back,

A deposit , to come look at it ?  ;D ;D ;D  Good luck with that.

In the time you've been on this forum you have progressed from being a 20 year old lad with a ladder asking dumb questions, to a succesfull business operator operating maybe 7 or 8 vans. Your questions have got less and your remarks of "dickhead " or some such put down to people gathered pace.

You've consistently been an advocate of buying a new van as a second hand one is a waste of time............ but you also chose here to advertise your second hand vans  ;D

You don't come across as a nice or helpful person at all. And as you said to Stoots..................   I know what level you are at, i think we all know your level too and your level is not a nice one.

Take the heat out of your comments please - and that goes for anyone else who wants to attack a person rather than just their actions too.

BTW - Scrimble said that he should have taken a deposit when the person buying said he was going to buy the van - not just to look.
It's a game of three halves!

I used to be the same when I was young. No life experience and thought I was correct all the time. Then I began to realise what I gave out would come back around to me later on. Now I don't fight back and just move on and ignore people who try and verbally attack me. I used the put downs as ammunition to build my business up.
On the other forum they barred me because of a bully and I was the only person that would stand up to him. He even blocked me because my luck was getting stronger and his was diving way down. In the end they asked me to come back because the forum was dying but I had move on.
The best way is to rise above it, don't bite and your business will flourish or the opposite will happen. Been there , have the T shirt. The more folk one helps then the more good customers seem to appear because its called the law of reciprocation. I dare Everyone on here to try it till Christmas and you will be surprised by the outcome. You may laugh like I did but I couldn't dispute the results !!!  😉

Its just the guys young age. Its ok for us with life experience to see what stage his life is at but in the next decade something will happen to make him sit back and contemplate what has happened. It may be a customer or employee who is taking him to court and he quickly realises what reality actually is. Gain wisdom as they say but wisdom is only experience and you can't buy it and you can't put an old head on young shoulders so just ignore reply's and move on. That's the best advice my lawyer gave me and he charged plenty for it but it was worth every penny.
