Help, advice sticker residue removal at height
« on: August 16, 2024, 07:31:18 pm »
Hi folks.

I picked up a few new customers in a high rise apartment block.

4 floors in total.

Going round I saw some of the residue from the sticker removal.

Any tips on how to clean these off using WFP?

I have one of these water through pad holders with the white pads and my brush is a Gardiner 50cm medium brush.

Any comments gratefully recieved.

I know you are out there....... I can hear you breathing

No chance with wfp, ladders out and scraper/0000 steel wool or solvents..

You can use Iso or PVC cleaner but you would need it on a pad so you could scrub away at it.

Thanks, I will not be climbing 30 feet to scrub a 10 foot wide window so that may help.

Also they are the alleged self cleaning windows ( which have taken the residents 8 months to work out need cleaning)

have you checked to see if they are full tilt and turn?
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

tell them pure water wont remove the residue and advise they contact the builder to get the window company back to remove it .i live in a new build and thats what i did
my view on the residue is were window cleaners as in removing dirt, unless your doing a builders clean

Yep. I remember about 15 years ago a snotty customer telling me that I should have removed the paint spots on his (self painted) windows.

I said that I'm happy to remove 8 weeks worth of dirt, bird mess and snail trails but not to clean up after sloppy painters.

He said that he had done the painting himself.

It took all my willpower (back in my flounce on a sixpence days  ;D) to shut up and just look at him.

He broke first and had the graciousness to admit that I had a point.

He remained a good customer until he passed away a few years ago.
It's a game of three halves!

Ordinarily, I would have said that I use lighter fluid to remove glue (seriously, the little yellow tins) but at that height, you are more likely to 'smudge it around' and probably make it look worse!

Happy to report that I managed to get through the job.

It was 7 new apartments out of a block of 20.

Thankfully the glue residue that one of my customers had flagged up to me was just the shape where the original sticker had been,.

There was only three windows in total that I noticed them on and they cleaned up nice using a white pad.

They were those self cleaning windows so the water sheeted very well off them.

Out of the 7 I signed up 6 for a regular clean, I will keep canvassing and hope to get that number up a bit.

1 hour 45 mins with plenty of faffing around and chatting to customers yielded £83.

Happy with that
