You start on windows and 12 years on you are weiging up whether to paint the churches facias!!!!   Solar panels have now been round a while, with many people not cleaning them for year.  Anyone else coming across a lot more Lichen??? brushing and soap a nightmare has you just break the lichen up into a million smaller peices.  Fine from the ground but not if you are cleaning 3 stories up.  Have used biocide but need some more oppphhh.  Has anyone used hypo on the panels before without ruining them??    Also back to the church.  The have been quoted £12k for scaffolding and £7k for painting.  I know there is a cheaper option and am exploring.  Any experience of hiring cherry pickers.  Smudger come to mind and may DM you if you dont mind.  Cheers Guys and Gals.

Lichen is getting to be a real problem down here in the South West.

The most effective and permanent way to kill lichen seems to be benzalkonium chloride.

Dilute as directed, spray or brush on and leave.

It kills the algae the lichen feeds on.

All you need is some dry weather - no chance of that here.

Yes indeed. Starting raining last week in June and has not stopped.  Based near the river Severn and 13 years in business, this is my most disrupted year due to rain.  Severn has flooded at least 5 times in last 8 months.    Will look at benzalkonium chloride. Never explored this.  Similar to Hypo?

I remember some one newish to bsuiness and forum a few years back asking do you work in the rain.  Some wise elder replied, " no never,  and I have not worked for 6 months"  Its never been so true.  If you didnt work in the rain, you would never work!

Feel free darran@oddbodscleaning.co.uk

I use hypo on panels - weak mid and plenty of rincing - most effective other than like slacky with a p/w scrap with a large plastic blade

You are all voiding the warranty of the modules. Only use approved tools and products!!

Well I guess you don’t end up with a Porsche by being reckless with warranties. 😄
