Heavy rain
« on: November 15, 2023, 05:14:54 pm »
Who works through it?

I got soaked yesterday.

Does rain affect the windows negatively in any way?

I usually work through rain as best I can as long as it's not torrential.  How much I get through though does depend to some degree on the customers due that day, there will always be some that really don't want you there if even a hint of rain.

In terms of the WFP stuff, I don't think rain has too much effect.  Traditional cleaning is a lot tougher in the rain, cloths don't last long for one thing.   Leaded windows as well can be next to impossible to clean with the traditional method in moderate to heavy rain.

I will dodge showers and work in light rain or drizzle. Unusually for me I was working in moderate rain yesterday on a block of flats as it was pre arranged with a subbie.  But that happens no more than once a year.

Customers are trained to accept me in showers, light rain or drizzle if I want to work in such.
It's a game of three halves!

Only avoid if it's carrying the Sahara Desert dust.

A disaster that the WC will be blamed for.

Very light rain only. - I don't believe rain ruins window cleaning - not after the initial first 1/2 hr as it pulls all the contaminates out of the air, however the customers don't like it, they pay the bills so they get the final say.

I'm sure there is some desperate manc somewhere who will change coats 5 to 6 times in a day to scrape a living  in torrential rain ;D

You have to work in the rain in Manchester because it rains almost everyday, the sky’s always grey, they’ve never seen the sun, ever.

I'll work in heavy rain if I'm half way through a job but if it's in between jobs I'll wait it out in the van....

BUT if its not stopping after 10 mins I'll just get out the van and crack on.

I'll be finished for 3pm today and another 3 day weekend to look forward to.🙂

The truth is if I didn't work in the rain at times I'd be having to work fridays or saturdays or just get behind with my schedule and lose money over the course of a year.sod that!

I like my 3 day weekends every week if possible.

I like just working 5 or 6 hour days and having the time off I want to without losing money or getting behind with my jobs.
price higher/work harder!

Anyone that lives in the Northwest and doesn’t work in the rain you must be climbing the walls by now. There hasnt been a day without torrential rain for the last couple of months. Zip up and crack on.

Its seems like its rained everday for the last month.

Theres no way i couldnt work in rain. Light moderate or sometimes heavy, i`ll draw the line at torrential and storms but generally i work in whatever i want to work in, if i dont fancy it then i use the rain as an excuse but if i want to work i will.

I cant recall ever having a complaint because of the rain, ive had plenty moan they dont like it but never backed up with any substance. Far more likely to get issues in hot weather, when its overcast you cant see spotting even if its there.

you guys in norfolk , kent , essex etc have no idea how wet south wales is !!   we can get rainfall literally  everyday for months on end . I believe we get double the yearly rainfall compared to the south east....
whilst I am not quite as committed as daz...... I do have to push myself to crack on during prolonged wet periods.
