Sub contracting percentage
« on: June 18, 2023, 05:27:27 pm »
What do you chaps reckon would be a reasonable percentage to offer another window cleaner to sub some of your domestic work ?

Im having a lad sub a couple of days off me this week, i offerred to  pay him top whack about 80% of whats cleaned because it wasnt really my goal to make much profit i just want the work cleaned so i can hang onto it as its a month behind and im strarting to lose some...

But going forward does anyone who subs work or has an idea of what reasonable ? 70/30 in their favour ? 80% seems a bit steep to make it really worth it long term....

?

thanks

Done it in the past . I supplied most things and went 50/50 . Obviously if they have there own transport ect it would be different

Lots of factors here - if they have own van & equipment and your in desperate need then 80% is a bargain

if your not overly fussed on keeping work then I would say its 60/40 to them

if your supplying van equipment them its 60/40 to you

Short answer is - it depends.

I have a couple of guys who have done work for me for years. They have their own vans and rounds, I knew them and had seen their work so asked them to do some for me. It suits them and it suits me, so the arrangement lasts. If it works for both of you, then it will last, if it only works for one of you, it won't.
So in my view you can't expect to make a big percentage for a good job done by someone else and have it last a long time. They are either going to start doing a poor job or get fed up and drop the work.

I have always taken the view that if everyone makes money then that's fair, people don't feel taken advantage of, and the situation will work longer term.

If they are good, and you can trust them, then look after them, pay them promptly and usually it'll work out, people aren't stupid so you should always remember they have a choice.
A manager is generally someone who has been promoted to the position by someone else who didn't see them as a threat.
Hence all people are promoted to the level of their incompetence

If he’s reliable honest does an acceptable job got his own vehicle equipment then 80 % to him is a good deal .
