The last 6 months in this area has seen a noticeable increase in the amount of custys opting for having a paint job rather than replacing  upvc windows. Given the astronomical price of replacement windows and with spraying coming in at about a third of the price i can only see this increasing. This is a very rural area ,bit of a backwater so a bit slow with trends so wondered if any of you who have been cleaning these paint jobs for a longer period have had any problems yet. I have one in particular which was clearly not done very well and the paint is already coming off which does make me wonder if there are going to be long term problems and whether us wc's are going to get involved in the blame game. Although its approx a third of the price it still represents a substantial investment from the customer so can imagine they might be quite arsey if it doesn't stand the test of time.

Turned down a job about 3 months ago,next door to a customer I clean for...the windows have never been cleaned and property has been bought and refurbed...which included the paint job,I know what they painted over and explained to the prospective customer why I wouldn’t do it...I know it was just my call
But 🤔not comfortable with it..

I have a customer that's had it done on the front....very good job, i thought they had them replaced.

I have a couple of customers who have done this. Seems ok.

I have a very long term customer who have old white aluminium windows in hardwood frames.

They had the hardwood painted white. Lasted years. A bit tired now but the hardwood is still solid even though it's showing through in high contact points.

They are complete class spray painted plastic with the original white plastic on the inside when you open them,did someone say investment lol.

I've seen white Windows sprayed grey,but they've also sprayed over the white silicone around the window frames,after a short time the paint starts coming off of the silicone,what surprises me is I thought it was common knowledge that you can't paint over silicone.
At the end of the day the end result will depend on how good the preparation is and how good the sprayers was.
Did he want to do a good job or spray and dash ?

And of course once it starts coming off the silicone, its fairy easy for our brushes to get underneath the paint and potentially cause it to flake off the frame  . Im not completely comfortable doing these, i can foresee problems. I have got some which have been done well and look good but whether they stand the test of time is another matter.

Just be careful not to scratch the sills, we use a flocked brush and try to take it easy on the frames and sills
