It performs at least one more cycle before it shuts down but you shouldn’t shut it down really just recirculate back to tank so it keeps going, when you leave it and it shuts down it uses more battery power each time.

I believe shutting down and then firing up again is about 180 seconds , but as has been said you don’t want it starting and stopping as it will coke up the screen and cause premature screen and pin failure, you need a return to tank feed to keep the boiler running all the time

My solution to keeping my Webasto Pro 90 heater running without switching off.

I added a 3rd heat exchanger before my header tank.  A small 22kw works fine. Added another Shurflo pump, a 20amp (continuous rating of 18 amps) PWM controller and 12v digital temp controller that has a cooling function.

A Webasto Thermo Pro 90 goes into reduced heat mode when it reaches 72ºC.  The combustion air motor speed and fuel pump delivery are reduced. The coolant temperature will continue to rise slower by another 15 degrees C, "the heater will then automatically stop combustion, fuel delivery will cease and the flame within the combustion chamber will be extinguished.  The heater will then commence a 180 purge cycle.

The heater is now in stand-by mode.  The green operation light will still be illuminated and the water pump will continue to circulate the hot water.  The heater will automatically restart if the water temperature falls by 15 C, going through the same start cycle as before." (taken from the manual.)

I set my digital temperature controller to kick on my third Shurflo pump at 82 degrees. (I have a 2 man system). This pump draws cold water from the tank and pumps it through the 3rd heat exchanger and dumps it back into the tank.  I set the controller to switch off the pump at 74 degrees C. It will then keep the heater from switching into stand by mode. You can regulate the speed of the pump with the PWM controller to reduce that heat more gradually.

Once the diesel heater is fired up and the temp controller switched on, my diesel heater will run all day without switching off.

I added a small section of copper 22mm pipe into the hose to the third heat exchanger for the temperature controller's temp probe.

3 mins....

Just keep the water flowing or plug back into return valves....👍

Basically yes, what i do is return to the van plug in the return first then reel in, or you can just turn the water flow on for a few seconds while walking back to the van.

Or you could simply fit a 3 bar Caleffi PRV  , once the system hits 60 psi the water will return to tank

That means you won’t have to rush back to the van

Did anything ever become of your heater panes?

I sold a grand total of 2 in the end  , I didn’t bother to push it at the time as Covid made it really hard to get all the bits to make it .
It has had a total revamp now , more compact and a lot more heat  .
I’m now in the process of adapting it to heat hot tubs and run central heating   ;D

Other than that I now work part time on the windows and make garden statuary the rest of the time  , but that’s another story  ;D
