Decided to convert customers to Gocardless
« on: March 16, 2023, 09:50:03 pm »
Hey all

Did the sums and decided it was best for the business to convert the domestic customers over to gocardless for automation in CleanerPlanner. So far so good. Had a few that have taken a bit more explaining or been less inclined. But overall going well.

Wondered if anyone else has been through the process and how they found it ?

Worries for the future is price increases from gocardless. Steering the ship another way would be a ball ache. Regardless we will save a good chunk of admin time.

Yes most were converted 2 years ago - Covid was great intervention to make the switch over really easy - any new customers don't even get the cash option now.

yes there are a few old dead that insist on cash - we can live with that as they get stressed by online payments

The biggest thing for go-gardless and no cash collecting it speeds up the rounds quite nicely I reckon the lads do at least one extra clean a day by not fiddling with cash

I prefer Bacs you get to keep all your money that way, unless you have loads of bad payers i don't see the point in giving money away to someone else to collect it.

I’ve thought the same for years but it’s about automating payments coming in that’s worth it for us. Reduces the time I’m going through the bank statement.

Couldn’t get on with squeegee, although that can reconcile bank statements, it didn’t seem as easy for us managing commercial.

In an ideal world cleaner planner would reconcile bank statements.

I find explaining GoCardless to customers the hardest bit.

I was about to attempt this a few years ago but then go cardless put all their prices up and i realised i would be then forever at their mercy. I dont think its worth it for a small operation as the fees and potential rise in fees outweigh the odd non payer.

i can see how it would be almost vital with 10 vans on the road though, the cashflow would far outweigh the fees.

its not about the odd non payer - its about time saving - not only in the office saving several hours. week trying to chase/keep track of work but also on the tools no slowing down to handle cash etc...

Those are the reasons we have chosen to move over. Cash flow is sort of an added bonus.

Cost increases is defo a consideration and will just have to monitor. For now the costs are just a necessary to save the time and therefore more costs.

How you both marking payments off on your bank account? Software that’s linked to your bank accounts?
