Going rate for selling/buying work - Shropshire
« on: January 08, 2023, 10:00:46 am »
Hi all

I’ve got a full round with a few of us on board. A window cleaner who’s close to me is looking to sell up and I’ve got first refusal of his work.  He’s done well to price right and keep the work compact. We are looking to replace some of our work or offer one of my lads more work. I’m in a position where I want to help the lad out selling it and don’t want to knock him down 2 much. He’s given a ball park or what he’s after. So ..

I know it’s largely down to what someone is willing to pay and potentially areas. But I’m wondering if anyone has a real world what they have actually brought or sold work for?

Around 14 years ago I purchased a little work for 2 x 5 weekly cleans. It was well underpriced and took me a few years to get it upto the right sort of prices.

We regularly sell work at 4x monthly price it’s very compact , down hear it’s so easy to pick it up ones are reluctant to pay much for it

Ok so somewhere between 3-5 times for compact good work sounds about right.

We are defo not in need of work but can always benefit from changing work around for better work

There is no ceiling, 5 times for good residential work sounds reasonable, that's in my area of the NW of England.
But the area and pricing etc is crucial.
I've got commercial work I won't sell for 10 times the monthly round take.

I've bought half a dozen rounds, 5 of them at 5 x
1 at 3x
Sold at least 6 at 5 x, cos that's what they were worth
My rounds that I've sold were well established for years 95% excellent payers and I think decently priced.

Thank you for the comments people. Looks like 3-5x is reasonable depending on what the person is willing to buy or sell and the condition of the work.

It’s confirmed I’m looking at the right levels. Thank you

Can confirm that the round i bought off you Jon was more than worth the x5.  Its still one of my strongest rounds to this day!!!!

Glad that's worked out for you Josh.
The only reason I sold it was because of the trip down the m56 to get to work.
How you doing anyway mate? 👍

Yeah that journey was a pain for you for sure!  The ewloe work was good too!

Got ongoing health issues so cant work anymore sadly, but ive got lads doing all the work, and im kept busy with my advertising services for window cleaners for leads/canvassing etc, so cant complain really all in all!

Hope you are still earning good money working a couple days a week on the tools.  How are you keeping these days?

You've done well to sort out employees etc, I don't think I'd be good at that, I've always found it hard to delegate jobs to others.
I'm officially retiring next month, I'm 66
Got operations coming up on my ankles and knee over next couple of years, (too much footy played 🤣🤣)
I'll still keep some work to top up my pensions etc
I've got some work that's easy to clean so it'll come in handy seeing as it's so expensive to live in the UK these days 🙄
Electric reel and my new transit connect make life easier for me to get around my work nowadays
My website helped me to get great commercial work over the last few years so that's been a source of easier work to clean at great hourly rates.
Hope you're business keeps increasing.
Respect to you for your hard work.
Ps
Does that guy on Cae Haf still love me? 🤣

The best way to get five pages is to get Dazmond or NWH in on the thread
Not sure if they'll take the bait though 🤣🤣
