help please

only been cleaning for about 4-5 months and have built up about 2k worth of work, the prob is when i started canvassing would price jobs a bit too low ( i know now but didn't at th time) that low that i'm cheaper than trad on alot of houses, which i don't think i should be!!! due to all the running cost etc...

any way i read a post saying about doubling your prices and loosing half your work, same money for less work! sounds good. i dont think i've got the balls to do that but was thinking about maybe 1 or 2 pound per house. customers do seem to be happy, so they say but you never know.

any help with how much to increase by and whens the best time to introduce it?

many thanks to all ???

Easy clean

Talk to your customer's and tell them that due to being new to window cleaning that you priced to low. Tell them you need to increase the price by quite a bit, then say you dont want to loose them as a valued custommer so ask what they feel is a fair increase, you may be suprised every time I have done this they have said more than I thought they would except.

Or go for it and write to them explaning the above and double the lot and say unless you hear from them you will cary out there next clean as normal at the new price.

I have some houses like that I did several on friday I did one that I'm charging £12 for that takes me an hour and another priced at £8.50 that takes me 45 mins, ok I wasnt rushing and I dont need to rush, they are still traditional at the moment wfp could cut my time down but then wfp should be helping to make more profit rather that allow for pricing mistakes, Its the last time I do the jobs at that price because I have enough work to replace them easily, I will be sending them a letter explaining that when I started I underpriced some propertys and that they will now need to be brought into line with the average price for the region, they can like it or lump it. just hope my faverite old dears are ok about it I may make a few exceptions  ;)

Easy Clean,

My advice is to continue cleaning your "underpriced" customers until the 1 year anniversary date then increase the prices. Meanwhile, continue to canvass and make sure you quote a more realistic price for any new work you get.

The reson I would not increase your prices now is because you have only had them a few months and you're already asking for more!! It's not their fault you underpriced. I would wait and increase year on year in line with inflation. People will accept an annual increase more than a 4 month increase, they will be worried when the next one is due!

best wishes,

I would clean them for a year as said above and increase every year until they are inline with the rest of your work.
