Dont forget how much diesel has gone up aswell.

500l heated to 60 degrees takes around 32kwh of electricity = 32kwh x £0.34 = £10.88
Diesel heater 6hrs a day = 6 x £1.79 = £10.74

immersion heater - 2kw element = £70 + immersion boss =£20. all done for £100.
Grippatank 9.1kw heater = £4,500 installed.

I'll still use mine on freezing nights. £5/10 of electricity is cheaper than a loosing an hour or 2 waiting for pumps or reels to thaw.

I know that’s the figures, but in real world use im definitely not £10 per day on diesel.  It must be the cool down time between jobs etc. it’s not running flat out through all the working day.

Mine is running 7-8 hours per day and I think it’s using around 1.25 ltr per hour it’s difficult to be exact as it’s plumbed in to the vehicles fuel tank ,.

It’s all about the simplicity of a diesel heater you push a button and you have hot water,no running cables in to a van for hours 5 minutes for me not 5 odd hours.

My diesel heater is running for around 6 hours a day  and uses nowhere near £10 a day...mines on full heat too all year round....

I put around £30 diesel per week in my van for heating water and driving around(I only use my van for work)....👍

You were paying £5 a day for the diesel for your heater back in 2019 when it was £1.28 a litre , have you got your figures mixed up a bit ?

Wish I lived in Dazmonds world, where somehow the price of diesel has fallen the last couple of years.  ;D

......... and you are only heating the water you are using. However, on the downside, we are also using diesel that is generating heat, +- 50% of which is going out of the exhaust. There have been attempts to capture that waste heat, but I've yet to see a viable solution.

The downside with electric is that you heat the tank of water in advance overnight without knowing if you can work the following day due to bad weather, etc.

That’s what I have always thought heating the water up only to get rained off too much faffing again it’s about making you’re life easier day to day, light poles electric reels hot water all goes towards making it a better and far easier working day.

Don’t you run a cable to charge your batteries?

I run a cable to charge my batteries for 8-10 hours 1 day or so every 3 weeks or a month, since I’ve reconnected a couple of wires inside the fuse holder it’s been working and charging off the split charger like it should do.

I haven't started using my immersion just yet but am beginning to feel the stiffness in the hose first thing in the morning. (behave)

Anyone else using their immersion yet?

I don't start using it until the overnight temperature drops to around zero.

Your correct...I'm wrong...I put £150 in my van last month and £140 the month before that so it's more like £35-£40 per week I currently pay for heating my water and driving around.👍
price higher/work harder!

Yeah and imo that’s still a bargain for piping hot water when I fancy it.

You must be doing some serious mileage every day to charge batteries up when using a 9 kw boiler all day plus pumps and electric reels ?  I have 400 amp s and charge mine daily

Honestly m8 we do 50-70 miles a day and it keeps pumping I charge it every few weeks over a Sunday, Oliver worked it out with my mileage etc and said it needed to be charged more but it’s working fine having a new burner and glow pin fitted this week.
