I used to work in an office... there's no way I would be able to take my girlfriend in and have her sitting next to me all day whilst I work, and every now and then make a sales call to 'see how it's done' - it's no different with this situation and it comes across very unprofessional. The fact that he's doing it behind your back would get me annoyed and I'd be straight and say it's great they're together but the situation is unacceptable.

You need to have a word with him....personally if it was me I would say its unacceptable to have her working or even in the van during work  time IMO.....

Maybe it's all innocent but I very much doubt it.it won't be long before he starts thinking of setting up on his own esp if his girlfriend is with him in the van every day....

Update:

So i spoke to him.  First of all he apologised for taking her out in the van without even asking me first.

It appears more innocent than i thought.  She was feeling a bit lonely.  She went from working 70 hours a week in Hong Kong to being stuck at home in North Wales all day with nothing to do.  She also wanted to see more of the area, so as we cover a large area and including rural areas he thought it would be a good idea to show her the area.  Also some of the customers actually said when she comes over here please bring her round so we can meet her.

It appears mostly innocent.

I've told him that based on insurance reasons alone that it cannot continue.  But i did say that i wanted to help.  I told him that i will put some feelers out with my brother and other business friends in the local area to try and get her a part time job something for her to do etc.  He seemed happy about this.

I also offered him the opportunity of franchising part of our business at a later date in the future so that if he wished, both him and his new wife could work together and take on more work/responsibility under a franchise agreement, but that i would give him a reduced franchise up front free especially as he has already been with me for 5 years.

I tried to be as nice as possible but also standing my ground that it cannot continue on insurance and business reasons.

Just got to hope now that it was as innocent as it seemed to appear and hopefully thats the end of that.....

Im generally a good judge of character and can tell when someone is giving me BS, so got to hope im right on this!!!
