Ps showing on contoller
« on: December 09, 2021, 10:06:41 pm »
I have a van mounted purefreedom system with a digital controller, which has been working fine for the last two years.
I'm now getting PS showing in controller window, everything is still working fine,I'm also aware PS is pressure switch, but is this a problem  ?  Can I do anything to get rid of it ?
Any help appreciated

Have you tried re calibrating it ?? Winter time water is thicker  due to the cold this will affect calibration.

as said try calibration first, also does your pump have a pressure switch ? I found these to cause this problem on a regular basis I now buy them without the pressure switch - you can bypass it by disconnecting the wiring to the pumps pressure switch

Yes I've recently recalibrated due to lack of water flow, would the increase in calibration trigger the PS switch ?

Hi Darren I'm  a bit thick, how can I tell if my pump has a pressure switch ?
I've also recently recalibrated due to lack f water,I've also changed my hose lock fitting on where I connect my hose reel

My PS light came on last week, everything stopped working.

It's the pump pressure switch, just bypass it. Basically connect the red and black wire straight from where they come out of bottom of pump to controller.

A small kink in the hose can cause this too.

Hi Colin

PS displaying indicates that either the Pump pressure switch has activated due to high pressure. This can be caused by
Below are the most likely causes
* Twisted or kinked hose ( also check the hose on the reel is not twisted)
* Blocked Hose, Brush jets, Bloacked Pump prefilter
* Hose connectors not fitting correctly/ Loose which allow air into the system
* Blocked tank breather hole
* Check any pole valves are fully opening and not jammed

If the above are all Ok
PS will also display if there is an electrical fault.
* Check the cable connectors are good and secure
* Check Connections to the battery are secure and in good condition
* Replace and worn or damaged cable and any badly corroded cables connections including the Fuse/Fuse Holder
* The Pump pressure switch may have blown and need replacement.  To check this connect the pump direct to the battery. If the pump runs the pressure switch is OK and it will be one of the above causes
* In some cases if Calibration and Flow rates is very High (EG both are 90 +) PS might display rather the DE when flow is stopped the reason for this , The Higher the Cal value the less sensitive the controller becomes and the slower it is to DE the pump. That can mean the pump pressure switch activates before the control dead ends the pump.

If you have increased low rate recently I would suggest running auto cal at that flow rate ( The controller can auto cal at any flow rate)

With cable connections it is best to use Bullet style connectors as these give  good connection and have protection from water ingress. Please avoid using Choc block as as these have exposed terminals. Also avoid using tape as the cables can pull apart over time

The reason for Calibration is so the controller knows when flow has been stopped. In a nutshell we do that by looking at the current draw of the pump. Changing calibration makes the controller More or Less sensitive to the flow being stopped and how quickly the controller will Dead end. As above in some circumstances if Flow and Cal are both very high the Pump pressure switch might activate before the controller can DE the pump

Cheers Ian

The Following Video may also be of help as it covers the messages shown on the Controllers. The Video shows the newer V16, Messages are the same on the V11

Ian, is there an online manual that can be printed off for digital controllers, I have an old paper gardeners one but its seen better days - I'd like each member of staff to have a copy of the manual

Hi Darren. Yes the user guides are online on the Spring web site For V11 controllers please see the following Link http://springltd.co/v11-pump-controller-range

For V16 controllers please see http://springltd.co/v16-pump-controller-range

As you follow the tabs through to each controller version there are video guides and PDF guides.

We have also recently added QR codes to the V16 controller range. Using a smart phone these link straight to the relevant guide.

Cheers

I had this same issue. Called pure freedom and the suggested it was a connection issue. Cleaned all the connections out and made sure they were all correctly touching and terminal connection was good. It sorted it. I would look at the wiring first. Also pure freedom were helpful on the phone

Hi Ian many thanks for your reply
When I turn the system on ,it goes to de,when I drive between job with system turned on and de showing, when I get to next job ps is showing ,this has only recently started to happen,if I turn the calibration down  the water doesn't constantly flow ?
