IMPORTANT SCRATCHES ON SILLS AND FRAME UPDATE
« on: July 17, 2021, 12:19:33 pm »
Hello everyone and apologies i never replied to previous comments.  Got Covid and forgot about everything else.  Foggy head and could not count up to 10.  made it round to cusomers house who had complained about scratches on sills.  i was lead to their conservatory where at first glance cound not see anything and was about to walk away away and show a red card for time wasting.  But I then saw lots small scratches on sills and frames just above sill at bottom of conservtory window.  Not  a biggy and you would have had to look closely to spot them.  Customer then said not a problem now but when dirty rains comes !!! the small scratches fill with dirt and are more noticable.  At this point I wanted to hit the customer.  Just recovered from covid and strugging to stand and i am dealing with a OCD customer.  Could unserstand if new conservatoy but its 20 years old.  Does anyone have expereince or know if PVC softens and deteroiates over time, enough to allow a brush to EASILY mark it.  These are lower sills and would of been brushed gently really  but have clearly made marks, but interestingly not on other frames on the conservatory.  Dont know what to do really.  May just accept no responsibiity, bin customer and move on.  But if this is a problem on old conservatories I would like to know before I take on more.  Well I say that I am 80% commercail but dont need hassle form that 20%.  What is this pink stuff you talk of.  Thnaks and enjoy the weather.

Just a thought, are you/your employee dragging the hose over the sills as you walk by.? I've done this and it does scratch, I'm now very conscious about keeping the hose near ground level when pulling. If it's your brush doing it then you'll have scratches on lots of properties which I presume you haven't.

Pink stuff is a cleaning paste only cost around a pound max ,it's really good stuff ,these scratches you mentioned don't sound like something that could be done with your brushes, brushes only normally leave scuffs which can easily be removed with pvc cleaners or pink stuff these scratches sound like deep scratches especially if muck is settling in them

The marks are made by the edge of the brushes, Thats why Gardiners sell brush bumpers which prevent this from happening. Yes pink stuff with a scrubbing pad will  remove these marks.

It'll be the stock of the brush scoring the sill.

You can sand the scratches out with wet and dry sandpaper.

If you can feel them with your fingernail then don't bother trying to polish them out, you will only make things worse, even light scrapes can take forever and its so easy to leave a dull mark on the plastic which will be far more noticeable than the scrape.

I have been reach and wash for over 25 years and never put deep scratches on plastic only scuffs, so anyone putting deep scratches on plastic must be really rough with their cleaning methods 🤔

Soupy is turning in to a grumpy old fart. Despite some people’s best efforts to fight his corner.

Don’t think he deserved a ban though.

I reckon if he did actually get banned, he could take the moderator to a tribunal and have his pay docked.

sounds like a little time in solitary might be good for him to calm down :D

you cant  really tell admin to ban you after they've given you a polite warning and expect anything else
