Another cracking Vari tech bargain .
« on: July 19, 2006, 12:48:24 am »
After knocking off early today due to lower back pain i decided to get myself an 18 foot extender , for the past 14 months i have used the 24 foot universal , dont get me wrong totally fantastic pole , just a bit heavy after 6 hours !
Went to Varitech to check out prices and as soon as i walked in the door i saw a lovely orange extender with £20 + vat on it , there was a catch , the largest collar had a crack on it , i then noticed another same size pole in the skip , it had been driven over by some fool !
I used my loaf and said i would take the pole if they threw the damaged one in too , it was a deal .
I then took them home and began to tinker , i super glued the split in the collar and G clamped it up , this resulted in a good as new 18 footer .
I then took the damaged freebie 18 footer and went at it with a hacksaw , this resulted in a 2 section 7 footer in A1 condition , with the spare brushes in the garage and a few bits and bobs purchased i had gotten 2 brand new poles for the superb sum of £43.18 .

THEY DONT CALL ME SKIP RAT FOR NOTHING !

12ft extender, about 8 months I think - does about 75% of our work, light as a feather, 16"brush, fan sprays, can work all day with it no probs, its still in good condition but none of us are hard on the poles.  Got a 15ft universal too, very nice but heavier, 20ft aluminium - rubbish, 25ft/35ft ecolite - fanastic poles.

We used the aluminium poles to start with but they were terrible, the extenders last pretty well as long as you treat them well, adjust them regular as well

JM ive had 24 universal and 8 extender for 14 months and they are both going strong , i do believe they could last longer if they are treated with respect , my old man used to say look after your tools and they will look after you .

The only reason i got the 24 foot was i needed to start on a budget and it seemed better to buy longer , just in case , im glad i did as i will still need to use the 24 for certain over conservatory windows .
