I've been asked to clean some wooden cladding that has algae on it,the timber is sawn so quite heavily grained.
I have some biological washing powder would this remove it ? Or  do it need something stronger ?
Any help/ advice much appreciated

Colin you know I like hot water yeah lol believe me you need it with this sawn timber you will struggle with cold and detergent to get the green algae out of the pours,it will clean up on the main bits and look way way better but up close you’ll be able to see green specs left behind unless you go over and over it.
Hot water gets rid of it but with timber like this i still use a Ubik or degreaser to speed up the process even further.

what i would of done is a test patch to see if it would come off...if so great!if not then i defo wouldnt take the job on!

theres nothing worse than cleaning an add on and the dirt/algae doesnt come off properly and looks like you ve done half a job!

The only thing that won’t come off timber like that are patches that have gone almost black it almost looks like they have mildew on it or it looks
Like it’s been burnt,if it looks like that i would walk away hot water was invented for jobs like weatherboard and plastic wash downs if you have a lot of them tbh you need hot water.

If it’s the kind I’m thinking of it’ll have 1/2” lips on each of the boards which will be terrible if it’s in the condition you say it is.

Sounds like  a weak hypo mix or biocide job to me depending on speed of results required
