4040 System Freezing

Gents those of you who have static set ups with large pre filters and 4040 filters how do you stop them from freezing up mines in my garage.

I know that I can lag my pipe work but how do you protector all you filters.
Ive got 1000 ltr IBC its virtually frozen up.

mines in a polystyrene box with a small tube heater with the thermostat set low

Space heater or oil filled rad on a thermostat.

It might not help you but you must have a seriously flimsy garage door I’ve just had a new insulated automated door fitted,it closes down onto a rubber seal you shouldn’t be getting anything freezing up inside your garage tbh.

Hello dazzler.  Go to Wilkinson's  get a cheap bbq cover.   And the thickest tog duvet.  Put them over it sorted.

That won’t be enough on the coldest nights. Not worth risking your membrane etc.  Get yourself a heater with a stat. Harder to keep the heat in if your garage is a prefab. My garage is integral, has a cavity wall & slightly insulated door so hasn’t been a problem for my static. My old house had a prefab, uninsulated, and my ibc froze in that cold winter back in 2010.

Good point Simon, integral garage should be absolutely fine, more chance of freezing occurring if it’s a detached garage.

It gets cold in our garage but doesn’t get anywhere near to the point where anything would freeze up.
