Customer wanted to fight me 🥊
« on: March 21, 2022, 12:31:55 am »
Hello everyone, worked Saturday.

Customer owed me 2x cleans.
One before and that day.

He was in but wouldn’t answer I just left invoice for last clean.

He said he’d transfer money later but didn’t on last times clean, said at the time he would.

I made the call to tell Him I wouldn’t clean today. Saturday when he opened the door 15 mins later, he’d been in bathroom.

I admit I was curt but not shouting or swearing
Anything that unprofessional.

10 minutes later he followed me up to next property and started ranting that he wouldn’t knock me for money.

I jumped off small pointer ladder as he started saying it was a p0xy tenner!
What’s my problem?

I thought he might take a swing so got off ladder as said.

Then got what’s your problem?
You was aggy at my door and now you’re being aggressive?
He said he didn’t want to but would fight me if he had too.
The reason he’d not paid is his dad died last month.

I calmed it down and shook his hand but he still looked seething and walked off
He paid online today

And I did clean his windows after he’d marched off on Saturday.

Not my finest hour.

As said I was curt at the start with customer
He’s new and a jack the lad self employed builder
I can see I’ve prejudged him and allowed emotions take over.

In my defence I had BPPV vertigo
January 16th
2 weeks off work and returned back to it a shadow of myself

Been suffering from mild anxiety 😟

Only felt like nearly old self a few days ago.

I except the fact that I should have been more professional to customer and was accused of thinking of him as a knocker.

But I certainly don’t think 🤔 I should have been offered to a fight 🥊

I wasn’t scared but angry at myself afterwards as I apologised and agreed to carry on cleaning

I think i should apologise for being curt, unprofessional
As I’m only in control of my own actions.

I explained that if we did fight 🥊🥊😄😱
One or both of us would be off work or hospitalised

I’ve let emotions allow me to be curt or rude in customers eyes

But feel annoyed at myself for carrying on now.

My behaviour was wrong but think he’s was worse🤦‍♂️

Anyone got any thoughts or been in a similar situation

Because of falling a month behind being ill
And gales and rain in February, I’m worrying too much about money🤔

Thanks lee

In the pat 4 years , both my partners parents have passed , and my father has died .
It didnt excuse me of any of my obligations  to pay bills on completiom.

I NEVER do another clean, unless I have been paid. Infact , unless I get payment within  2 weeks , I stop calling.
This isnt because I am desperate. I run a tight ship, and people who need constant reminding dont fit my customer profile .

price higher/work harder!

Thanks Guys

Thanks Daz 👍

Unfortunately he is one of 6 on a mobile home 🏡 park

Caravans without wheels!

I suppose I’ll do for now 😄
But I have his mobile no’
So can text reminder’s

Not give him more than 2x cleans without payment

I could blank him but not sure 🤔 if that would stoke the fire 🔥

Got used as a kicking board basically
Angry at the world 🌎

Should have been more professional to begin
With but I believe I’d still be waiting for payment 😄

What a life.

If a customer is making you feel bad about work because of conflicting personalities, the best thi ng to do is stop cleaning it and replace with a new customer another day, no point doing something that gives you anxiety, nothing is worth it.

We all have bad days.I was “short” with a customer recently because she asked me if I wanted the job of painting her house as a sideline job.Price agreed and would have been a nice little earner over a couple of weekends but just when I was about to start she said a family member was going to do it.Was peed off at the time but was silly being off with her about it in hindsight.Customers prerogative

Well that's quite charitable of you. If they've agreed the job and then they dump you for a relly it would have to be an otherwise trouble-free and well priced customer for me to continue working for them. They have shown how much their word is worth.
It's a game of three halves!

If customer has been disrespectful to me I tell them politely thats why it's best that they find somebody else. Even if I have all the neighbours ...... in fact I enjoy dropping those the most

HI Lee
you worry too much, dump and say hello every time you see him, carry on with your day.
NEVER LET THEM GET YOU DOWN.  you don't have to work for anyone you don't like, life too short mate. see you around .
