Unger Microfiber cloths
« on: September 15, 2020, 11:19:01 am »
I ordered a load of these for insides I would just like to say they are the worst Microfiber I’ve ever used, they don’t dry anywhere near as quick as the cheaper blue ones you can get or clean as well very disappointed.

Only those with money to burn would buy unger

Best ones for glAss cleaning are fish scale microfibres - fantastic

They are good but be careful on pointy, beveled leads.

The green 500's are pretty good for trad - and detailing but if your cleaning the whole pane then the fish scale will do a much better job and quicker

Yeah that’s it these have lots of fish scale material god knows who thought that was a good thing to incorporate into the cloth, worst window cleaning cloth I’ve ever used.

I’d choose scrim over those particular ones.

I found the same, terrible things. Makes you wonder who tests the products!!

I have one of those Unger cloths with the weird triangles in the corners.  In my case though it's grey and is called the Unger Ninja cloth.  Didn't realise the green types now come with this sort of design as well.  In any case I still use a lot of these Unger microwipe type cloths for my traditional work and for the most part they're okay.  The cheaper generic no brand ones are generally just as good though.

Another thing I like to do with trad work is to cut up scrims into smaller cloths and use those for the edges/detailing in the same way I would with a microwipe.  This option seems to work better in wetter weather as they're more absorbent but the microwipe's are perhaps better when it's sunny as they don't leave as many fibres or dust particles on the glass.

Well there you go that’s the internet for you I put a thread up saying just how complete C**P these cloths are and then minutes later Tradman puts a video up about how great they are 🤣🤣,if he’s not getting all his gear free from Unger I’ll eat my pole.
Someone must have seen this on here and for straight on to him.

All the other Microfibers I’ve had if they’ve been damp-wet on a hot day if they are left on the tank for a couple of hours they dry out to almost bone dry,I did the same with 1 of these things a couple of days ago really hot day I picked it up this morning it was still very damp. Only 1 side of these cloths are barely usable.

I find the unger cloths hold too much water and difficult to get dry...to then suck up more water!

I use Screwfix microfibre cloths for sills.

I have fish scale cloths for windows, but I think I payed well over the odds for these. Wilco do a glass cloth and I think it's just as good, for half the price.

Tried them, not overly impressed with them. The old, large green unger cloths were good. Running out of them.

I've tried lots of different microfibres over the years but IMO you still cant beat a good broken in scrim cloth...much more absorbent....

I use Unger grade A pre washed scrim and a few  blue waffle cloths from time to time,I've also got some very large unger green microfibres which I find ok but soon get wet compared to scrim....
price higher/work harder!

I have a lot of good Microfibers like the old Unger plain ones but in blue the feel of these new things is like trying to go round the edges of the window with a pair knickers, awful let’s try and put a few triangles on each corner update something that didn’t need touching rubbish I reckon they would last a fraction of the time and that’s the end goal for them,my old cloths I’ve had nearly 15 years nothing but a pleasure to use.
