Checkatrade offering free membership
« on: May 19, 2020, 01:11:02 pm »
Checkatrade keep calling me and offering me a free trial which is 3 months. Now free till 2021.
I'm assuming they're not as good as they used to be?

No idea I know a lot of people have used them though and have plenty of reviews I guess it helped?.
The fact that offering a free trial makes me wonder if they're tanking subs

I had the email and calls about this.

In the small print, the very small print, at the very bottom, it says:

Quote
Your web listing will not be found in general areas searches on Checkatrade – but only if a consumer searches for your business name.  You can be included in our Online Directory search results and receive customer calls, by upgrading to Full Membership

Which makes the whole listing pretty pointless. Its just a way of getting people to carry on after the free time is over.

I think they are irrelevant for our business these days, along with the likes of Yell, trust a trader etc.

They filled a gap for a while but as soon as google listings added the map and listings at the top of each search they became irrelevant.

I didn’t say Yell.com, I said Yell as in the old yellow book which went irrelevant when the internet took over.
