After guys hope everyone’s keeping safe and well.
What’s everyone’s go to generator for there gutter vacs?
I’m after a compact generator to power a 3000w vac but want the smallest one possible as we all no what a pig it is shifting a vac a genny around properties.
http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=214245.msg1930656#msg1930656As you could well know its the starting demand that determines the size of the gen set. A 3000 watt vacuum can have 2 x 1500 watt motors or 3 x 1000 watt motors. Starting them slowly one at a time effects the gen set size required.
As Darran says, you need a 6kva gen set.
Back in the days we used to sell a 5.5kva gen set to drive a 2800 watt concrete paving breaker.
I have a small 1500w gutter vac. I asked the supplier to advise a size of gen set for this. The manufacturer did numerous start tests, the highest peak draw was 5.2kva.
There was a supplier who used a 1400 watt vacuum cleaner and suggested he used a 2kva gen set to power it. This goes against the rule of thumb in the industry that starting a vacuum cleaner motor takes around 3 times the running current.
