Hysteria Jonny, there are a few on here that Iv always considered to be sensible/level headed types who now seem to have lost the plot.

I was back in yesterday for the 1st time since the lockdown. I was pleasantly surprised how things went, all customers happy I was back round and were encouraging me to keep going where possible. It was also a big relief to start getting some income back in

I decided to take one of our two vans off the road at end of last month the mot, insurance and tax would have cost almost£1,000 plus I wasn't sure if we would be allowed to work or not so we're just sharing the work now by going alternative days in other van.
Most customers are pleased to see us only lost a few but they'll return when its all over.
I read the do's and don'ts a million times regarding who is allowed to work and who is not so happy that we're still working and not feeling guilty about it!

I stopped at home all easter weekend drove me nuts so dont know how you guys that are staying at home are coping, but still accepting brews and biscuits need them for my fuel for my  body 😁😁😁

Cabin fever - not me , nor do I have sour grapes, and have no concerns over following the guidelines - my view is that we should follow the guidelines and as posted before I have more concern for the health and safety of my staff than  trying to rake in a few quid - what has really surprise myself is the total lack of objectivity by many here, the name calling, the put downs etc... just because there's a difference of opinion,
It's clear that some on here put personal profit first over staff welfare, to me that's shocking , others need to carry on , even when there is financial help available from several sources

the funny thing is, the only place i have had any negative comments about us working over this period is on this forum.

no grief off our domestic customers . no cancellations. no people calling out to us whilst we're working.

so its a funny one...

1. the government asked us to carry on working
2. our customers want us to come and clean
3. my staff are happy to work

but on window cleaning section of cleanitup there's a lot of negative comments about people who have carried on.

no grief off our domestic customers . no cancellations. no people calling out to us whilst we're working.

so its a funny one...

1. the government asked us to carry on working
2. our customers want us to come and clean
3. my staff are happy to work

but on window cleaning section of cleanitup there's a lot of negative comments about people who have carried on.

Before harping on about put downs maybe read your sarcastic reply to Dazmond again, you talk about having no concerns about people following guidelines and then self righteously harp on about putting money before people as being shocking, objectivity ? you wouldn't know the meaning of the word.

Interesting post dry - I was aiming  more for irony  in the light of al the cr@p being spouted on both sides of the argument but there you go, can't please everyone

With regards to being self righteous I will have to disagree with you, I merely state that we are not working and took that decision or the staff - others on here have made it clear they would sack staff if they had concerns about working in this pandemic ( I will add that I speak to over a dozen current and former members of this forum all of whom employ and I can tell you now what they pot here and try to justify is not what is spoken outside this forum )

As stated before - sole trader is a different kettle of fish, you make your on judgement on what you think is safe  and how to follow the guidelines set out

What has surprised me more is the fact that I’ve heard other window cleaners say they’ve had customers say to them I’m glad you are still coming I thought I was going to have to get someone else and mean it,my customers have been pleased to see me and have all said you don’t get near anyone you are out in the open air etc.
There will be a lot of surprised window cleaners if they think they are going back to a full schedule of work imo only,talking to people out and about and other window cleaners also the general consensus with customers is we didn’t think you would need to stop coming,to some that might be an eye opener but a lot of people have been thinking like that with people that work outside the roads are still getting repaired the tree surgeons are out etc,lots of manual workers still working not just window cleaners.

I have been back 2nd week now,  finishing around 12 / 1pm.    that's when they all start sitting on there Fronts so im home then.   In one area today I had a call     ignored as I was working.    Message sound went off.  ill look later .        Anyway I looked at message,       Can you clean nu.  16  address.  . My windows are pitted and my Window Cleaner has not been for a while.  im looking to change.
 I have been cleaning in this area for 7 years now. new  build estate .      I already put a Flyer in this house  with price when they moved in  around 6 months ago..     Why didn't they ask  me to do them when I canvassed 6 months ago.      They can Pixx  Off I thought.     Look after my own Regular Customers who deserve my Services more.

Looks like some will not wait if there Windy is not coming out.    Im not taking anyones work from them just to keep them happy.    Unless she has heard how good I am.

we only have a unit there. i moved in 12 months ago...
