I sound like doom and gloom lol but what I have just said is what the government and NHS are expecting this year. The only thing that can prevent that outcome is if somehow a vaccine is in place by september, which is deemed highly unlikely.
Just to add, 250,000 is the 'likely' number within 1 year but could potentially rise to 500,000.

The NHS will be completely overwhelmed by the end of the year. Second wave of Corona, flu as well as a much higher then average birth rate caused by current conditions and people spending alot of time together. As more and more NHS staff are infected and die, we lose skilled doctors and nurses who will be impossible to train and replace in time leading to massive staff shortages on top of huge numbers of patients. Cancer death rates will soar and people will by dying of things that are normally require routine operations and treatments. Expect xmas to be pretty much cancelled this year...

Exactly what I’m saying! If everybody just stayed home for a few weeks and did feck all, then the upcoming few months lockdown could be prevented.

Selfishness and near sighted stupidity.

The next few months are essentially practice measure for what comes next.
The biggest fear is when exactly the second wave strikes. If its during November/December which is prime xmas shopping time then the virus will spread rapidly. Immediate lockdown and closures of usually packed shopping centres. Even then it will be too late and people will completely ignore the lockdown to spend xmas with family.
