Pay per click what's your experience?
« on: February 26, 2020, 08:46:56 pm »
Only ever built up the bussniess through word-of-mouth canvassing and some leafleting (keep meaning to sort out large drops but never actually do)

However recently got a free trail on adwords I told them basically if they want to provide it for a week free to test out.

The phone has been ringing quite a lot the enquiries are nothing like I've ever had before in the sence which I will list.

1) if you miss a call even if it's about 10 minutes and you call them back don't be surprised if they've already found someone else!

2) they want it immediately in other words today...tomorrow is already pretty late for them
One lady said if it's not today I'll leave it till summer  ;D..Another property accepted the quote it was small (not worth going out the way for) however she wouldn't wait two weeks until we're back in the same area.

3) a lot of enquiries Were flats basically stuff that most people don't want to do through the house through someone's garden difficult parking.
And of course they all had the one off mind set.

I think the biggest drawback was how quickly they want it when we get a call through recommendation or canvassing the customers are totally fine to wait until we're back in the street
These lot seem to expect a clean within a day or two at latest!!

Positives

Obviously I got a couple of good full House enquiries unfortunately I wasn't fast enough to answer the phone within about 15 minutes they found someone else. When you speak to someone on the door or if you hand them a leaflet you call them at the end of the day and they have not found someone else they're waiting to speak to you! I think I'm totally not used to the online  customer!

The most positive so far over the last 4 days since started A commercial contacted requesting an external clean and sign a pub but the same old story he literally wanted it today or tomorrow at the latest... lol... well I got excited as could ad VAT to the invoice but had to detour about 20 mins (wasnt to bad) ultimately it was a result I was very happy to obtain a commercial job and they paid immediately on the card reader.

Considering doing it long term with a monthly budget but not so sure just yet..

So anyway my question is do you do this on a regular basis have you done in the past?
What's your thoughts about these sort of customers do you automatically find it quite a good method of obtaining clients?

I've been doing it for few years for gutter cleaning and it's good for one off jobs and not bad for repeat business. But your observations on the pay per click custie are bang on. Sometimes you ring back 5 mins later and they have someone . My experience with it has been generally positive but in my opinion you need to manage your campaign yourself and not have some company do it for you.

Also, watch out for click fraud where, for example, a competitor could be clicking your ad to use up your budget. An indication of this might be a high click through rate but few actual calls. Click fraud often occurs now using an automated process / bots.

And r.e. commercial work you can always alter your target keywords to include 'commercial' or other related search terms.
