Well ticked off
« on: December 20, 2019, 01:15:58 pm »

Yep not quite window cleaning related but
Im parked up on a job and clearly plenty of space to  over take my van etc.  As im walking back to the van, I hear a loud crack as another small can goes by.  Now theres no oncoming traffic, they were simply driving past mine!   They've only gone and smashed my side mirror off, drivers side!
So ticked off with that and the fact its a pain now to drive as all van users know how important the side mirrors are, esp drivers side!
Aaaarrrrrgggghhh 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Sorry to hear that mate its always something.  If it makes you feel any better ive had 2 punctures in 2 weeks both requiring new tyres and vans playing up with turbo.  Always stuff goes wrong this time of year FFS.

Little tip for you.  This happened to me with side mirrors 6 years ago.  Went to local scrap yard and they had a spare mirror exactly same.  Cost me £5 plus they fitted it for £5.  I was well happy with that!

Did the driver stop?

If it helps cracked a double glaze panel with not crazy hot but washing up temperature water on Wednesday.

gutting,   especially this time of year.

This same thing happened to me a couple of years back.   No cheap to replace either if all the electrics are smashed,

I connected up a clip on extended mirror that caravan users use to get me by until i fixed it.   Van drivers need this mirror at all times.  It also prompted me to install a dash cam that records whilst parked up.

I’ve been thinking about this Nathan and I can’t honestly see how he managed to smash it off,I thought you had your mirror constantly pointed at yourself so you could check you’re profile minute by minute lol lol.

My van broke down last week , got a mechanic out and fixed it there and then at 10pm, lost power then some Waitrose lorry turned the corner and took my mirror off 😂 .

Can you not take some of the masking tape off your back window and stick your mirror back on?

Sorry 😐 to see that Nath

I’m frightened to go out near Christmas

Had 2 minor whacks, Christmas past.

3 yrs ago pulled  into turning just before one I live in

Care nurse came whipping around corner and crashed into me

I pulled over so far to avoid her I was almost completely on the pavement

She still managed to wallop into me🤦‍♂️

She was on her mobile 🙆🏻‍♂️

Another time just before Christmas
I was parked working away from van
20 something woman reversed off
Parents drive into my van,

Tried to drive off,

Her mother came out screaming and
Shouting said I shouldn’t be parked opposite

I wasn’t directly opposite, further down in fact

Idiot 😐 normal road

After mother’s rant she wanted to not go through insurance

As her daughter had accumulated a few accidents recently 🤔

Insurance said even if I was parked on double yellow lines she was still at fault

I went through insurance
People muck you about if they can not going through insurance

Have experience of this !!

It also prompted me to install a dash cam that records whilst parked up.

Yeh a must these days

Still not got one 😞

My Dad was driven into by a woman who had had a "couple" of drinks. She apologised profusely, pleaded with my Dad not to call the cops and said her hubby owned a garage and would sort it out. Long story short, Hubby was a cxnt and said it was not his wife's fault and to do one.
I have dashcams in my vehicles to prove what happens in the case of an accident. Tracker too which shows my speed etc. Too many arseholes on the roads these days.

Are we not missing the obvious here chaps ?
Try folding your mirror in , it’s worked wonders for me in the past 15 years since I lost my first one

I always do that, but then a big lorry sideswiped me, mirror was intact but half the side of the van was smashed. I was sitting in the van, it rocked the van really badly. Driver would of known but drove off. I was pointing the wrong direction so had to wait to turn around, at that point the lorry was already gone. Very annoying, had to be a claim on my insurance. Put premiums up for ages because of it.

Sorry to hear all the tales of woe. Yes it's not been a good month for van troubles on here has it? Let's hope our fortunes will change for the better soon.
