On the recommendation of another forum user, I got set up with Stripe about 14 days ago.

All our customers are on DD, so only use if for "Card Not Present" transactions. Intend to use if for debt chasing where the DD payment has failed (unfortunately, we get a few customers a year who sign up for the service and then cancel the DD as soon as we've completed the work), and I also want to use it for those jobs where the customer wants a one -off FSG/gutter vac/connie roof plus a one off window clean, but doesn't want to set up a DD.

I used to have a  paypal card reader, which worked okay, and I used to use it for "card not present" transactions about 3 years ago.

I tried using izettle and Sum Up for card not present transactions and I ended up sending both readers back. Izettle does not work for 'card not present' and Sum Up was too much hassle to use.

With the Stripe App, I'm pleased so far (and no, I'm not on commission!). There is no card reader, it is an app on your phone, so no hassles with having to have a card reader with you or it runnning out of charge.

I've done one transaction so far for £120 and the fees for stripe were £3.08 on that transaction. The money landed in my bank account about 10 days after I'd charged the customers card over the phone.

How does it benefit you when a customer signs up for direct debit and then cancels the mandate?

Hi Oliver, i use Sumup, but cannot take payments over the phone with it, so is it straight forward using the Stripe App for
payment, while on the same mobile to the customer ?

You can set up Sumup to take payments over the phone. The charges are a little bit more for those type of payments.

Hello Oliver

See this Payment system on gadget

I don’t want to entertain any of this at the moment

I take cash cheque payment online
The odd standing order but this is awkward as you have to be dead on time for these or refund missed cleans 😱

This option is last resort to late payers who I feel are decent people just forgetful, rather than crafty 🤬

Guessing fees are around 2.5%
I wouldn’t be happy waiting 10 days to get money

I’m not having a dig
I wouldn’t do a fsg clean unless customer could pay on the day

Larry i use SumUp like you and i CAN take payments over the phone no problem,i have done quite a few times,in the app click on the virtual terminal while your on the phone to the custy and tap in their long card number, expiry date and 3 number security code...it works smoothly and effortlessly every time, you can also do it on the main site on your PC if you prefer too..👍.
