Temp gauge on van faintly glowing
« on: November 04, 2019, 06:34:49 pm »
Hello

I have Fiat Doblo multi jet van.

Coming home today about 4pm

I noticed temperature gauge light glowing/flickering

Barely noticeable went out once driving a few miles.

When you turn ignition on all lights on dash come on.
Including red temp gauge light which
Is normal

Once engine is started dash lights should go out.

But as said very faint glow from red temp gauge light.

Any ideas anyone?

Wondering if van battery maybe on the way out 🤔

But that’s coming from me clueless 🤦‍♂️

Thanks

Hello Soupy.

Is that a mechanic or auto electrician
Job?

If it’s a bad earth is van still ok to drive? Assume minor fault.

Thanks lee.

It's a do it yourself job. Basically look round the earth straps if you see a green / rusty looking one; take it off and clean it.

If a bad earth it’s more than likely the negative on the temp sensor itself , if it was the main earth then all the warning lights would be flickering , just had a look at mine but too dark to see it now !
Google it and cleans the contacts , that’s where I would start
I'm so lazy I'm getting tired of it !

Thanks very much for your advice p@f

Think I’m looking for a green thimble sized bit of plastic

Googled temp sensor, tried uploading image here but wouldn’t have it

Got to be jpeg, couldn’t work that out either 🤭
