Brown Aniline Leather Sofa
« on: June 02, 2019, 11:34:09 am »
Morning all
I’ve been asked by a friend of mine to clean his carpets and also if I could clean his leather sofa. It’s still for sale at Barker and Stonehouse and looked at the spec - Aniline leather. He says the kids have trashed it and it’s gone a bit baggy and shiny in places. Anyone on here tackled one Or any advice I can pass onto him.
Many thanks
Tim

get a throw   :D              id say you could spend ages trying to get a limited result  , there is probably some leather experts that could tackle it but it sounds like a  pita

If it is an an analine sofa and you have never cleaned or trained then pass it on.
An analine leather sofa has no finish on it and is very absorbent which means if you dont know what has gone on before or how to fix it then it can and will bite you.
Cleaning is one thing restoration is a completely different ball game....and ball ache if your not careful.

Often the cost of restoration is more than the value of the sofa. I tend to agree with the above post. Sorry not to be more help.

You could take some pictures and ask Jackie at buffalo or Judy at ltt or furniture clinic they all have great trade advice on leather.

Aniline leather is the most lucrative of all cleaning and restoration jobs as the leather is always great quality and people are usually prepared to pay a high price to make it look good again.
Relatively easy with the right products.
Aniline Cleaners need to be more specialist than the regular detergent cleaners that most people sell and the colour can be restored with Aniline Dyes.

Hope this helps
