hi guys/gals .... none of the windys i know have a ova8 ive always had the slx its time for a new pole so just wondering off those that have used both is the ova8 better and worth the extra money cheers

I seen a post the other day from someone who had split an ova8 section, I know they not been out too long but the guys I’ve seen using them do seem to like them apart from the clamps feel crap apparently!
Personally they don’t seem good enough to make me think about not buying a gardiner however the phantom clamps have got me thinking about buying  a phantom pole next but I’m not keen on they’re first section bring even thinner than gardiner section 1!

I have the Ova 8   25  foot poles,quality poles and well worth the money,had the SLX  poles which are great but got fed up with the reglueing of clamps and spinning  sections.
Still use an  SLX  30  on some jobs and although it is 5 feet longer it feels a lot heavier than the Ova 8  25,but funny enough don't feel there's much difference  in weight compared to my SLX 25.
What I do notice  is that there is more of a flex when using  extended and  at an angle like doing windows above a conservatory roof  from the side which is beneficial to me,
Because the sections are more of an oval shape but are not 100 percent oval  there is more flex from the side rather than upright  if that makes any sense.
All in all a brilliant pole and will buy another at a longer length,don't know if there is extensions like  Gardiner do.

Do they make a swivel section gooseneck for theOva 8 because I couldn't go back to non swivel gooseneck regardless of pole

With regards to gluing the clamps on it's all down to the preparation and using a good glue. When the new Gardiner clamps came out I took advice from on here and got some good glue prept the pole and they have never budged in around four years. Replaced the shims on the pole this year as they were wrecked but the pole and clamps are still fine.

I never had any issues with clamps coming loose from gardiner but I much prefer the bolt on type now I’ve had a set of phantom clamps!

When my clamps came lose i would wrap a piece of tape around the pole section and push the section into the clamp never ever came lose

That’s the way to get you out of a spot for the rest of the day or so. Not a permanent solution. Clamps are great now on the newer slx. Haven’t had one come unglued for a couple of years now on any of our slx or super max. As said above prep is the key if they ever did need re-gluing.

Had my Gardiner slx 22 eight years n never been a problem 🙂👍

I've never re-glued a clamp since I saw a suggestion on here to use two winds of electrical tape.  Works a charm.

I have one Gardiner pole where the new clamp fitted so tight, it didn't need tape or glue.  I actually tried to pull the clamp off and couldn't.
