Were the same Chris, able to save so much more as we have very few direct debits and no debt, other than mortgage. We’re not ‘rich’ although to be fair, we are in one sense of the word, I’ve seen people in poverty and feel very blessed that’s for sure!
Daz, your a bachelor, so for you maybe things are different. But when you’ve got a mortgage etc, you don’t want loads of extra monthly payments coming out. We prefer to save so we can go on nice holidays - without debt. Buy nice things - without using a credit card etc.
I’ve not always been like this, when I was young I got into debt, had a car on a loan, hated the way I was living. Never owned anything and felt stressed at times trying to pay things off.
All that’s changed now, and life is much more fun.
Circumstances are the deciding factor, but for you Daz, renting a tent in the middle of a rough estate, means you’ve got a lot more disposable income. 😜
