Here's the background - a note I dropped through his door.
17th March 2018
Dear Mr H,
Window Cleaning
Last week you dropped off window cleaning money to Daniel for your sister. I’m sorry to hear about her state of health and my thoughts go out to you and your family.
(For context - Dan the man cleans his sister's house and for some reason she had Mr H drop the money at my house for him - I wasn't there but my wife was and he told her he couldn't understand why I hadn't been back to clean his windows so read on dear reader.)
In regard to your window cleaning – I understand you referred to the fact that you asked me not to clean upon my arrival one day and that I had not been to your house since - and you are correct in surmising that this was the reason I have not called.
I run a small business which is based on the trust that if a customer is “regular” then we keep to the agreed schedule at the outset. I plan my days around this and do not accept “doorstep” cancellations without exceptional reasons.
If you would like me to resume service then I am happy to do so; if you feel this constraint is unreasonable then I understand your desire to find another more accommodating window cleaner.
Please let me know what you would like to happen.
Thank you for your custom.
Kind regards
Anyway I clean his neighbour across the street and today he (Mr H) is out in the sunshine cleaning his new car. He hadn't responded to my note so I haven't been back but I've no reason to be rude so I cheerily remark - "Nice day for it!"
He ignores me.
Me: "Sorry Mr H didn't you hear me?
No response
Me: "Oh well, lets hope it doesn't rain, have a lovely day!"
Seems like I'm not in his good books. Hey ho.
