Can I improve vac power
« on: September 19, 2018, 01:45:56 pm »
I’ve a black max machine with a 500psi pump in but they only have standard 5.7 vacs in.  Was wondering if I could maybe change for 6.6’s???

I wouldn’t replace 2 perfectly goodvacs to get more vac power, I would wait until they need replacing.

Funny enough I was going to start a post on increasing vac power on that CFR500 that I bought from you, i’ve Had it fixed and might start using it but I noticed the inlet port is very small, although it fits a 1:5inch hose the internal diameter is reduced. I’m going to make a new lid with a full 2 inch inlet so I can use 2 inch vac hose.

Are you using 1:5 inch vac hose?  Maybe increasing it might stop restriction and give you extra vac power

I’m sure I read a few years ago that the black max had a re enforced tank for the 6.6 motors

There are a couple of things to consider , is you machine running two vacs and pump on one cord, do u have a built in inline ?
if you keep the two new vacs on the same cord , you are running a bit over the plug fuses rating with two 6.6 , its generally not a problem though .
Otherwise u will have to run another cord for vac two .
Its hard to say without measuring your machine what way the 6.6 will fit best , you could probably make an adaptor to fit you current vac mounts ..
There is also  this manifold available   ,u could import it from cobb carpet ..   but again you would have to measure first to see if it fits , should though

Thanks, there’s 2 wires/plugs, 1 for heater and the other for pump and vacs.
I asked amtec and was advised it couldn’t be done because  of fittings.....
I’ve heard if people adapting lesser well built machine??

There is no way the likes of Amtech are going modifying machines for you  ...   all they will want to do is sell the products they have and replace parts in a routine way , chances are they couldnt charge you for the hours it would take to do custom work anyway , so they will tell you it cant be done to get rid of you off the phone basically .

Is this your version of the black max ?    if so there looks to just enough space to mount two 6.6 in the same upright position on the existing manifold ...but u need the likes of the adapter plate in frank goomers video above .
Otherwise you ditch the powerflite manifold and do custom mounts or install the manifold /mounting plate cobb carpet sells .
if you cant do it yourself , im not sure who will ...  perhaps the guy that built that custom airflex with lights /alarms etc on it ..cant think of his name .
