Had one today ...
Chap phones up a couple of days ago and says I've been recommended to him (probably one of my blind customers
) and asks about windows soffits and gutters. I said it's best I have a look and arranged to call by today between jobs. As I never do soffits and gutters and pass them on to Dan the Man I wondered who had recommended me and it sounded like he said something like "Yogi" and when I asked him to repeat it it sounded the same so I just let it pass. (Perhaps I made a Boo-boo?)
So I arrive at this 1960's nondescript semi thinking this looks simple enough and I asked him whether he wanted the gutters cleaning out or simply washed. He came out with the immortal words ...
"Well, while you're up there you might as well clean 'em out."
I politely informed him that I wouldn't use ladders but used a pole system to which he said "That's no good; you won't be able to clean the sills properly!"
I could have gone into explaining how I (or more accurately, Dan the Man) could indeed clean the sills properly with a pole system - and suck the muck out with a gutter vac - but I thought "I can't be bothered" and with a sigh, said, "okey-dokey, thanks for your time" and left.
