Where is it? Outside/Shed/Garage etc.

Mine is outside under a lean-to roof so I made a cupboard for it insulated with polystyrene. My tanks are in a purpose built shed insulated with 50mm insulation. All pipes that are external are covered in pipe lagging. Bubble wrap is good for awkward placed cold spots.

I have electricity outside and can run a low wattage "bottle heater" or two from an extension cord if need be but haven't needed to since the minus tens of 2010/2011. Unless the weather was prolonged at minus 5 or below for a twelve hour stretch I don't need to worry.

I live on the north west edge of Bristol so quite mild compared with the north and east being near the river Severn and Wales and all.
It's a game of three halves!

My tank and RO are in a purpose built cabin in my garden and I have installed a 60w bottle heater which I turn on on sub zero nights.
Never had problems with that gear freezing. However, I've had a few problems with the pole though before I started using heated water in winter.
If the daytime temp stayed below zero the brush would get a buildup of ice all over it, particularly on the angle adapter. in the end I wouldn't be able to adjust it. The pole too would sometimes freeze where water getting into the sections would freeze. Since using warm water in winter though I've not had those problems.
However, we've not had that many freezing days to worry about in the southeast in recent years

My RO is in the utility room and so its safe in there.
My IBC tank is outside and not really protected from cold, although it is surrounded with my gardening equioment and water butts for power washing. But truth be told, it would have to be a very cold long winter for the whole contents of the ibc tank to freeze.
But i use a heating element in the vans tank so im not using freezing cold water by time i go to work.

Because the van tank is insulated slightly, the van temp is more than high enough to prevent frost/icing of hosepipes etc
