Anyone use or heard of using water from a DI vessel.
I know they sell it from RO filters, but not sure about DI.
Don't want to kill my 19 year old Goldfish....or do I lol

Don't know much about fish keeping. But what TDS do they "prefer". If it is standard practice to use an R/O then why not just use R/O produced water at (say) 10 TDS?

Or is it some other factor that comes into play as in DI produced water may be too "pure" if that is possible?

i use my r/o water for my little tank, but to get the right kh values i need to mix it with some tap water too. If you're using straight r/o water you will need to add the minerals back to it and make sure the water hardness is correct for your fish . As advised your better of doing a search on some fish keeping forums.

Im sure you must be having a laugh with gold fish as they dont require much up keep as far as tap water is concerned. However for good fish keeping pending your requirements then yes you can use di resin.

Problem is, they don't know what DI vessel and resin is. They do use RO systems though. Isnt RO natural filters? I don't know. Only ever used DI.
Fish don't like chemicals in tap water. You have to let it stand for 24 hours

Isn't the pure water just to stop the tank scaling up? That's what I thought. Am I being stupid?

If it's 19 year old..don't mess with what you've been doing before... They need bacteria in the water..you'll end up killing it with pure water

Not really..obviously tap water has all the crap in it so you have to add stuff to remove the bad chemicals with ro water all of that is taken out but you have to put the good minerals back into the water and it generally has a lower ph snd kh level then tap water so it's more soft water then regular tap. It's mainly more used in a marine set up but it's good when mixed with tap water to get the perfect set up for the fish you keep. With a goldfish tho i wouldnt bother

Maybe just use water after the RO,  before it goes into the resin, you also have to check the Ph on it for fresh water marine fish, so it would  probably be ok for goldfish? Like the other guy said its best to go on a fish keeping forum, but i think going through resin may not be good idea as its a chemical? good luck

they can live up to 40 years. that's why I wont buy it another friend. Nothing else mixes well with them. They eat them lol
