Sorry to be a bore!
« on: July 24, 2017, 07:23:54 pm »
Hi guys. I know return rates on flyers has been done many times 0.03 - 0.05 hit rate, sometimes a bit more. I've 10,000 flyers printed, but won't have the time to put them out until  autumn and winter. (I know I could get someone to do it but I'd rather do it myself, so I can establish followups) Question is, does the return rate fall significantly in the autumn/winter? Thanks in advance...

Without a doubt Spring and early Summer are the best times for recruiting new customers, winter its dark, depressing and there is little light to see out, with the result they just put off setting a windie on until Spring and the lighter days, You might have missed the boat a bit this year but it should still be better than waiting till winter which would be a big no no for me.

Hasn't worked like that for me.
You find an area with a rubbish windy and your in.
I have just knocked out 30k leaflets and only got about 5 replies.
In winter I knocked out 10k and got 9 customers

Agree with Duncan, remember a lot of shiners throw in the towel once the winter weather arrives, just be careful around the
Christmas holidays as you tend to get the Christmas messers promising you the earth while really just looking a cheap one off
clean.

your figures are off by 1 decimal place. I think you mean 0.3-0.5% which is 3-5 per thousand and not the 3-5 per ten thousand you have written.

Rule of thumb is only deliver leaflets when the clocks are british summer tiime.  outside of that the results are non existant. If you cant get them out before then end of Sep then save then until the first week of Apr.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

Yip, my maths is a bit rusty, meant 0.3/ 0.5... thanks for the advice guys, and will take it on board. If I can't get them out soon, then I'll leave it until April. Thank you 🙂

There's no right answer on this,  my neck off the woods is leafleted out so it wouldn't matter what time of the year you deliver them, canvassing is the only option.
Test the water with x amount and see how it goes, you really don't want to be sitting on your hands in this game while somebody
else is grabbing the work.

I will still be pro active throughout the winter, following up on any leads that I feel may be productive. The reason I asked the question, was because I had a feeling that it may be a waste of time and leaflets, during the dark months. I've never put leaflets out in the winter, but have knocked on potential customers doors, and have got some of my best customers this way...

I usually get about 4 custies per 1,000 leaflets.
The summer is more plentiful but then you get a lot of wasters.
The winter is more sparse but then the quality of customers is far higher.
If it were me I would:
Concentrate on Adwords in the winter. Let the customers come to you. Other windies don't bother advertising in the winter so there is less competition. Also there are less time wasters in the winter. As my old friend used to say 'it just needs two coats of looking at!'
Do leafletting in the winter too, but make sure it is very targeted.
