It was not clueless in my case , fact was that my old man is almost 70 , i would not expect him to do tops for one , plus he was not getting paid so told me to F right off

back packs are good for the odd job and if you do small houses but when there is a conny u can soon run out of water then if the custmer comes out and says can you clean the roof today it would be a pain to use the back pack on that , van mount is beta for my round pluss i dont like using cold water ,but  they do have there uses mine is for soft washing and the odd wc job

I think the clue is in having THREE men in a van. Not TWO.

I can see the sense in two reels and a back pack in that case.

Three reels from a van would result in tangles and getting in each others way I believe. So the reel users can do their stuff and the back pack guy can go and do an odd house or an awkward back. At other times he can just clean along with the others and help get hoses back in or out quickly.

Back packs great for putting solutions on conservatory roofs

About 15 -18 years ago I used to use the old style one bought in from America can't remember nameI'd run around a large block flats doing all the penthouse with it

the days when the 60 foot  pole would need  two to set up and as you walked it towards the other person its brush head would still be  on the ground you'd count to three and it would slowly start to rise in the air

I had a stroke 2 years ago , i was gagging to get back to work , but the rules stated that i could not drive for a month after , ok , i thought , it turned out that i was 3 months before able to work , but i had still not been given my liscence back , i converted the van to a 2 man system so my old man could drive and we could both work , due to his non w/c know how we found it hard to work side by side with 2 reels , he said you do tops with system and i will follow behind with backpack on trolly doing bottoms , he would fill as and when needed , this worked way better,it gave time for drainage and more importantly it gave the old boy a breather 
It took 12 months to the day for me to get ok to get behind the wheel again , due to red tape and unknown reason for the stroke .
I do believe that if not for that backpack then tempers and tangles could have sunk the biz !

Good to see your back though, especially with those ideas for the electric hose reel frame. I've some metal ordered from ebay and will get the welder out some evening soon.
