😂😂 i had some customers who would ask how i got into the back garden as gates were locked. This is when i was trad cleaning and would simply tell them i split the ladder and went up n over. You know, hello window cleaner with a ladder 😂😂

New client put massive big electric gates at front of drive. 8ft wood fence either side.
Now here's the funny bit.
On the left, down the side there is a big laurel hedge. Walk through it and you are greeted with a 2' 6" inch chicken wire fence. Bizarre!  ::)roll

If you want to see proper security round a house take a trip to South Africa (johannesburg area) you definitely would need to text the night before to clean windows there, you certainly wouldn't put ladders up to jump over gates you would be greeted with a shotgun and a couple of guard dogs  ;D and if you left your van open around the Durban coast the bloody monkeys would nick all your gear never mind Humans.

We see this quite often.

When I used to weld up gates and security bars in South Africa the hinges (usually bullet hinges) were welded so the gate could not be lifted up.

Some DIY efforts never cease to amaze me and they honestly believe their property is secured like Fort Knox.

In fact, they wouldn't leave a gate unlocked for you. You wouldn't climb over a wall either as a lot of properties had electrified fences.
I doubt you could clean windows in Johannesburg either as you would be competing with the 'Ousie' and they are cheaper. Vans were few and far between. Most business was done from a bakkie although we had Toyota Hiace vans as delivery vehicles.

Those monkeys in Durban were unbelievable. When a troop passed through the neighbourhood they stripped the mangoes off the trees, took a bite and disgarded the rest. Really destructive. Brother in Law had a house in Durban North and the monkeys came through the weekend we were visiting them.

Funnily enough my wifes (who is originally from there) mum and dad live on the bluff in Durban and when we were there last we visited a friend of theirs and she had a load of food on her countertop in the kitchen that she had prepared  and the monkeys got there way in and trashed the kitchen  ;D . Its such a shame for as beautiful and surreal as South Africa is its as Ugly when comes to all the politics violence & corruption, if it wasnt for that i would be living there in a heartbeat. Still visit as much as we can tho its just as cheap to eat out there every night as it is to shop at tescos here  ;D
I read recently the the rand and south africa's credit rating has been downgraded to "junk status" such a shame
