New step ladders for con' roof cleaning
« on: April 14, 2017, 07:51:06 am »
I was lucky to buy these on eBay from a local seller. Made by Youngman, really stable, good for roof cleaning, they have adjustable leg so pack away quite small, we were using a scaffold but these can be used by one man

might be worth looking out for if you clean con' roofs

i hate cleaning conservatories especially the roofs !   But those ladders look quite robust to take all that weight !

I paid £170 they sell for near £500, I wouldn't pay the full price for them but if you see them cheap on eBay the are worth a bid

Got yourself a bargain there Mike..Nice one.

Fleebay can be great for bargains as a few years back picked up a nearly new easi-dec conservatory roof ladder for 250.  http://easi-dec.co.uk/store/conservatory-roof-access.html

Where did you see that advert? I've been trying to find out the best way to advertise to the very high end of the conservatory cleaning market, people who are paying £30k plus. The leaflets are great for the people willing to pay £300 but I want to find the people willing to pay £600-£800.

I think Sanderson are tapping into that market

It was in the Times, must have cost thousands.

TS main business seems to be upmarket bespoke shutter type blinds which cost thousands. Therefore people don't seem to blink an eye paying say 795 for a conservatory valet when they have just forked out say 10,000 for some shutters for their home. lol

Speaking about price went to have a look at a job yesterday. Good job I did as would have been a real pig of to do access wise. 4 sides with a wall gully, front ground level is about 4 foot lower than the sides as the garden is stepped. One side has no access at all and  has a 2" gap from next door conservatory so cant really get to that side from next door either.  Only way to get to that side is from the front.

Anyway when I gave the price she looked quite shocked and said " is that for the inside too?"
Just goes to show some people have no  idea/tight and still expect really difficult jobs to be done for next to bugger all.

All looks a bit overkill. Great big ladders and white suit on lol

I can appreciate the effort for big jobs bit for your average roof why.

I manage with a bog standard pair of step ladders and a cheap set of doubles on the roof rack but very rarely used.

Plus that side of the rood looks easy to do from the ground. I only use ladders if it's impossible to get the angle from the ground back use its much harder work on a ladder.

We've done quite a few and these step ladders do make it Easier, to be honest we could manage doing it standing on each other shoulders with an old mop but if we can make the job easier why not 8)  we could manage from the ground  with the WFP but again these do make it easier  and you can put more scrubbing pressure on the finials  stood up higher. I'm loooking for another pair of these (but the big gets ones) that we could clean F&S on houses.

The white suits do look a bit weird but my helper comes to work wearing all sorts of clothes ( even though I did buy him some nice polo shirts) so I told him he can wear what he wants but he has to put on one of these disposable lightweight suits while on the job.

Fair enough mike.

If you find the ladders easier fair play i actually find working from ladders more difficult, find they have to be moved a few times otherwise there is awkward twisting and reaching involved. Generally i will only use the ladders on one side of the conny when the angle is against me from  the ground, usually a good soaking of your chosen chemicals results in fairly easy work without too much pressure being needed, but finials are usually the most awkward bit.

I use telescopic ladder as you can lean it up on gutter and work above it with no ladder in the way as you can set the height, I bought a draper set seam really good for single storey stuff
